Claims
- 1. A process for providing a lubricating shaving aid on a razor cartridge, the process comprising the steps of:
- (a) immersing a material in an aqueous dispersion comprising water, a water soluble component in solution, and a dispersion of a water insoluble component dispersed in said water and said solution of said water soluble component for a time sufficient to permit said dispersion to be deposited onto said material;
- (b) removing said material with the deposited dispersion thereon; and
- (c) drying said deposited dispersion to form said shaving aid, said resulting shaving aid being structured to permit uniform release of said water insoluble component as said water soluble component dissolves upon exposure of said shaving aid to water.
- 2. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of mixing said aqueous dispersion.
- 3. The process of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:
- selecting said material to be a thermoplastic material; and
- affixing said material and said formed shaving aid to a razor cartridge.
- 4. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of selecting said material to be porous.
- 5. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of selecting said material from the group consisting of polyester, polystyrene, polycarbonate nylon, and mixtures thereof.
- 6. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of selecting said material to be acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.
- 7. The process of claim 1, further comprising the steps of:
- selecting polyacrylamide as said soluble component; and
- selecting polyurethane as said insoluble component.
- 8. The process of claim 7, further comprising the steps of: providing said polyacrylamide in solution in an amount from about 10% to about 60% by weight based on a total weight of said aqueous dispersion; and
- dispersing said polyurethane in said water and said polyacrylamide solution in an amount from about 10% to about 50% by weight based on the total weight of said aqueous dispersion.
- 9. The process of claim 7, further comprising the steps of:
- providing said polyacrylamide in solution in an amount of about 30% to about 50% by weight based on a total weight of said aqueous dispersion; and
- dispersing said polyurethane in said water and said polyacrylamide solution in an amount of about 30% to about 50% by weight based on the total weight of said aqueous dispersion.
- 10. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of adding to said aqueous dispersion a biocide.
- 11. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of adding to said aqueous dispersion a coloring material.
- 12. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of adding to said aqueous dispersion N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone.
- 13. The process of claim 1, further comprising the step of selecting a cap member of a razor cartridge as said material.
- 14. A process for forming a lubricating shaving aid, the process comprising the steps of:
- forming an aqueous dispersion comprising water, a water soluble component in solution, and a dispersion of a water insoluble component dispersed in said water and said solution of said water soluble component;
- depositing a layer of said aqueous dispersion on a substance; and
- drying said deposited dispersion to form said shaving aid, said resulting shaving aid being structured to permit uniform release of said water insoluble component as said water soluble component dissolves upon exposure of said shaving aid to water.
- 15. The process of claim 14, further comprising the steps of:
- selecting polyactylamide as said soluble component; and
- selecting polyurethane as said insoluble component.
- 16. The process of claim 15, further comprising the steps of:
- providing said polyacrylamide in solution in an amount from about 10% to about 60% by weight based on a total weight of said aqueous dispersion; and
- dispersing said polyurethane in said water and said polyacrylamide solution in an amount from about 10% to about 50% by weight based on the total weight of said aqueous dispersion.
- 17. The process of claim 14, further comprising the step of adding to said aqueous dispersion a biocide.
- 18. The process of claim 14, further comprising the step of adding to said aqueous dispersion a coloring material.
- 19. The process of claim 14, further comprising the step of adding to said aqueous dispersion N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone.
