Claims
- 1. A mechanized means for manufacturing a bundle of stacked indexing caps for subsequent attachment to a plurality of hangers, each of said caps including a through hole to facilitate stacking, said mechanized means comprising:
- means for injection molding a plurality of said caps, in predetermined colored batches, said caps having parallel planar sides and including a through hole;
- means for aligning caps from each batch in a predetermined stacked relationship;
- means for binding said caps into a bundle, said means for binding passing through said through hole of each of said caps to maintain said caps in a bundle for transport to said plurality of hangers.
- 2. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 1 wherein the means for injection molding further includes a separate means for removing molding sprues.
- 3. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 1 wherein said mechanized means further includes:
- a belt conveyor which conveys said caps from the means for injection molding to said means for aligning caps;
- said means for aligning caps including a centrifugal chamber and a stacker mechanism, wherein the caps are aligned and subsequently stacked in said predetermined relationship prior to binding.
- 4. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 1 wherein said means for aligning is a vortex chamber which produces a strong rotational force within a circular chamber which lofts the caps into a queue, said chamber also having a means which thereafter maintains the caps in a predetermined aligned relationship.
- 5. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 1 wherein said binding means is threaded through an opening formed of the individual through holes of each of said caps included in said bundle of caps.
- 6. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 1 wherein said means for binding said caps is a ribbon.
- 7. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 6 wherein said ribbon is plastic.
- 8. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 7 wherein said ribbon has a cross section configuration which is commensurate with the through hole configuration defined by each of said indexing caps.
- 9. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 8 wherein said cross section configuration of said ribbon and said through hole configuration are both rectangular.
- 10. The mechanized means as claimed in claim 6 wherein said ribbon is held in a threaded position by a plastic ball slidably engaged at one end of said ribbon, said ribbon being releasably engageable from said plastic ball.
