“Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device” is meant to prevent muscle and bone atrophy by facilitating an environment for astronauts to exercise and remain physically healthy through space activities. The goal of “Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device”, is to prevent muscle/bone atrophy and to facilitate an efficient way for astronauts to exercise. So instead of losing muscle, gaining in physical health and strength can be a possibility.
Who's it for
Targeted audiences are NASA, CNSA, CSA and other space agencies. This device can also be used for workout equipment in gyms.
Needed to Succeed
“Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device” needs a strong magnet and an electromagnet to increase/decrease magnetic strength at will. For magnets, Neodymium magnets are the most desired for the core of the electromagnet.
Possible uses
The possible uses for this device are equipment to prevent atrophy, workout equipment to assist astronauts in their attempt to maintain physically healthy. Currently it is true astronauts have equipment to exercise, but said equipment is not enough to prevent atrophy at a level that does not require rigorous repetition.
Benefit Claims/Reference
As stated on the Application data sheet, this non-provisional application is specific reference to my provisional patent with application No. 63/102,868 Filing date: Jul. 8, 2020
“Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device” works by using electro-neodymium magnets to generate a magnetic pull between them. As shown in the figures within the drawings, this device looks reminiscent of workout equipment that already exists. The key difference in this case the improvement, is that this device does not us actual weights, but the pull of magnets to simulate weight and resistance. The more energy applied from the neodymium magnets, the more force the astronaut can work with, creating a force they can push or pull from to simulate weight in space. You work this machine the same way you do any ordinary one. Because of this device simulating weight through magnetism, astronauts will essentially be exercise as if they were under earth's gravity, because the force they push or pull at will not be from actual weights, but from magnetism itself. Its final feature is that this device utilizes a “voice control”. Similar to smart devices, on the side of the device will be voice control you can use your voice to turn the device on or off but its most advantageous element is that you can use your voice to regulate how much force the magnets are applying that way you can simulate how much weight you want to work with. This is advantageous because now there is no room for safety hazard, the chances of you being injured decrease substantially because now the weight or the force being applied is now direct relation to what your voice commands.
Description and Functionalities:
“Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device ” is meant to prevent muscle and bone atrophy while creating an environment that enables an astronaut to exercise without the worrisome and effects of low gravity. My “Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device” is structured relatively the same as traditional exercise equipment but instead at pulling literal weights, the astronaut will be pulling the force from to Contracting magnets. Two magnets being the core of the machine; the electromagnet and the other being the end of the lever in which the astronaut pulls which will also be a magnet. The core of the device utilizes a Neodymium magnet precisely a “n52” magnet as the core of the central electromagnet. Because of the central core being an electromagnet, the device has the capability to increase or decrease the magnetic pole between the two magnets at will. Magnetism works in space so even in a vacuum, the magnetism between the central electromagnet and the lever in which the astronaut pulls at, creates a force in which the astronaut can pull at. With the “Magnetic Anti-Atrophy Device”, an astronaut can pull at a magnet and change the strength of the magnetic pull at any given time creating the illusion of weight as if he/she were exercising on Earth. And as stated before, voice control will oversee how much force is applied.
