- 8. The magnetic composite of claim 1 wherein the composite material comprises a combination of more than one filler composition.
- 9. A composite material comprising:
a solid matrix material; a nanostructured magnetic filler, wherein the B-H product of the composite comprising the composite comprising the nanostructured magnetic filler differs by at least 20% from the B-H product of a composite comprising a micron-scale filler of the same composition as the nanostructured magnetic filler.
- 10. A composite material comprising:
a solid matrix material; a nanostructured magnetic filler, wherein the coercivity of the nanostructured magnetic filler differs by at least 20% from the coercivity of a micron-scale filler of the same composition as the nanostructured magnetic filler.
- 11. A magnetic tape comprising:
a magnetic layer on a surface of a tape wherein the magnetic layer comprises a solid matrix material and a nanostructured magnetic material.
- 12. The magnetic tape of claim 11 wherein the magnetic material comprises barium ferrite.
- 13. The magnetic tape of claim 11 wherein the solid matrix comprises a ceramic.
- 14. The magnetic tape of claim 11 wherein the solid matrix comprises a polymer.
- 15. The magnetic tape of claim 11 wherein the magnetic layer comprises a multilaminate structure wherein at least one layer of the multilaminate structure comprises nanostructured magnetic material.
- 16. A magnetic tape comprising
a support having thereon a magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic powder powder dispersed in a filler, wherein the average grain size of the ferromagnetic powder is 100 nanometers or less.
- 17. The magnetic tape of claim 16 wherein the thickness of the magnetic layer is from 1 nanometer to 1000 nanometer.
