Claims
- 1. In a reactor having a reactor body and an agitator, a magnetic drive system for generating rotational and translational motion of the agitator, comprising:
- a tubular shaft having one end attached to the agitator and another end;
- a magnetic annular weight fitted to said another end;
- a guide column having an end supported by the reactor body and a free end, the guide column further having a cylindrical bore and just means for slidably mounting an intermediate part of said tubular shaft in a fluid tight manner;
- a cylindrical guide cap fluid tightly mounted to the free end of the guide column, the guide cap covering the magnetic annular weight and incorporating a cylindrical guide shaft integral with a bottom of the cap, and second means for slidably mounting said tubular shaft coaxially and fluid tightly on said guide shaft;
- a drive rotor covering the guide cap and positioned annular magnetic weight enclosing the guide cap and positioned with respect to the annular weight fitted to the tubular shaft such that a rotational or translational movement of the drive rotor generates a corresponding movement of the tubular shaft and the agitator; and
- means connected to the drive rotor for rotationally and translationally moving the drive rotor.
- 2. The system of claim 1 wherein said means for rotationally and translationally driving the rotor comprises:
- a motor connected to the drive rotor for driving the rotor about an axis coaxial with an axis of the reactor body; and
- jacks having axes parallel to the axis of the reactor body and connected between the reactor body and the motor.
- 3. The system of claim 1 wherein said first mounting means includes two bearings made of polytetrafluoroethylene loaded with graphite or glass fibers, said bearings being mounted in the bore of the guide column and contacting the tubular shaft to permit the fluid tight sliding of the tubular shaft in the guide column.
- 4. The system of claim 3 including a connection piece in said guide column, said connection piece defining a hole which opens into the bore at a position between said bearings.
- 5. The system of claim 1 wherein said guide column defines a hole adjacent the free end thereof, said hold opening into the guide cap.
- 6. The system of claim 1 wherein said second mounting means includes a bearing made of polytetra-fluoroethylene loaded with graphite or glass fibers, said bearing being mounted in a housing of the magnetic annular weight fitted to the tubular shaft and contacting the guide shaft to permit the fluid tight sliding of the tubular shaft on the guide shaft.
- 7. The system of claim 1, wherein said means for rotationally and translationally moving the drive rotor comprise means to translationally move the drive rotor so as to correspond to a maximum travel in the guide cap of the magnetic annular weight fitted to the tabular shaft, said maximum travel corresponding to a translational movement of the agitator.
