Claims
- 1. A magnetic hub assembly for a data storage disk comprising a hub member and a metal hub plate, the metal hub plate having a plurality of features for aligning the metal hub plate with a die during assembly of the hub member and metal hub plate.
- 2. The magnetic hub assembly of claim 1 wherein each of the features comprises a notch in the shape of a circular arc.
- 3. A hub assembly for a data storage disk comprising a hub member, the hub member comprising a material that transmits UV radiation.
- 4. The hub assembly of claim 3 wherein the hub member comprises optical grade plastic.
- 5. The hub assembly of claim 4 wherein the hub member comprises optical grade polycarbonate.
- 6. The hub assembly of claim 3 comprising a metal hub plate attached to the hub member.
- 7. The hub assembly of claim 6 comprising an exposed surface of the hub member located radially outward from the metal hub plate.
- 8. A hub assembly for a data storage disk comprising a hub member and a raised boss near a center axis of the hub member, the raised boss being annularly surrounded by a bonding surface and being configured so as to protrude into a center hole of a data storage disk when the bonding surface is in contact with a surface of the disk.
- 9. A combination comprising a data storage disk and two hub assemblies according to claim 8, the hub assemblies being disposed on opposite sides of the disk, the respective raised bosses of the hub assemblies protruding into a center hole of the disk and being bonded to each other in the center hole of the disk.
- 10. The combination of claim 9 wherein the raised bosses are bonded to each other with a UV curable adhesive.
- 11. A method of bonding a magnetic hub assembly to a data storage disk, the magnetic hub assembly comprising a UV-transmissive hub member and a metal hub plate, the method comprising:
applying a UV curable adhesive to a surface of least one of the hub member and a data storage disk; positioning the magnetic hub assembly against the data storage disk; and directing UV radiation into the hub member through an exposed surface of the hub member.
