This invention relates generally to travel bags and luggage, and more specifically to the connection between a travel bag and the trolley handle of a piece of luggage.
There are few prior art travel bags designed to be placed upon a trolley handle of a piece of luggage. Those that are have a portion of material permanently attached to the travel bag that extends around the trolley handle. The problem is when a traveler has a travel bag that they want to place upon a piece of luggage having a trolley handle but that does not have a portion of material adapted to wrap around the trolley handle to hold it in place. In such cases, the travel bag will simply rest upon the piece of luggage and fall off repeatedly during travel. Thus, a need exists for a quick connect strap to be placed upon any travel bag and quickly and easily adapt them to be placed upon and around the trolley handle of a piece of luggage to avoid the above-mentioned problems.
In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of travel bags and luggage having trolley handles, or the like in the prior art, the present invention provides a novel magnetic quick connect strap. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide magnetic quick connect strap for attaching travel bags to trolley handles including a handle portion having a first set of magnets attached thereto, and a backing portion including a second set of magnets attached thereto, wherein the handle portion is placed upon an outer surface of a travel bag and the backing portion upon the inner surface of the travel bag opposite the handle portion such that the first and second sets of magnets attract with one another and releasably hold the magnetic quick connect strap to the travel bag without damaging the material of the travel bag. A second embodiment is shown wherein there is no backing portion and the second set of magnets are separate individual magnets. And as such, the travel bag can be easily placed over and releasably held upon a trolley handle of a piece of luggage, with all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and
The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and method(s) of use for the present invention, a magnetic quick connect strap for attaching travel bags to trolley handles, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present invention.
The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings.
As discussed above, embodiments of the present invention relate to a magnetic quick connect strap for attaching travel bags to trolley handles including a handle portion having a first set of magnets attached thereto, and a backing portion including a second set of magnets attached thereto, wherein the handle portion is placed upon an outer surface of a travel bag and the backing portion upon the inner surface of the travel bag opposite the handle portion such that the first and second sets of magnets attract with one another and releasably hold the magnetic quick connect strap to the travel bag without damaging the material of the travel bag. A second embodiment is shown wherein there is no backing portion and the second set of magnets are separate individual magnets. And as such, the travel bag can be easily placed over and releasably held upon a trolley handle of a piece of luggage.
Referring now to the drawings
A second embodiment is also disclosed wherein there is no backing portion and the second set of magnets 122 are separate individual magnets, wherein the handle portion 110 is placed upon an outer surface of a travel bag 200 and the second set of magnets 122 upon the inner surface of the travel bag opposite the handle portion such that the first and second sets of magnets attract with one another and releasably hold the magnetic quick connect strap to the travel bag without damaging the material of the travel bag. And as such, the travel bag can be easily placed over and releasably held upon a trolley handle 300 of a piece of luggage 400.
The handle portion 110 can be made from any material suitable for luggage or travel bag handles including leather, cotton, nylon, polyester, or spandex. The magnets 112 are then attached thereto. The backing portion 120 may also be made from a flexible material, such as leather, cotton, nylon, polyester, or spandex, or alternately made from a rigid material such as metal or plastic, and its magnets 122 are then attached thereto.
The most important advantage of the instant magnetic quick connect strap is that it can be easily and quickly releasably attached to any travel bag, including purses, camera bags, and any personal bag without damaging the material of the travel bag, and to be attachable to any trolley handle, including those on coolers, etc. In an alternate embodiment, the backing portion can be left out and either one or more spaced magnets can be used instead.
Although specific embodiments have been illustrated and described herein, it will be appreciated by those of ordinary skill in the art that any arrangement, which is calculated to achieve the same purpose, may be substituted for the specific embodiment shown. This application is intended to cover any adaptations or variations of the present invention.
Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
The present application is related to and claims priority from prior provisional application Ser. No. 63/453,864, filed Mar. 22, 2023 which is incorporated herein by reference.
