Claims
- 1. A magnetic recording system for recording information on a magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium for forming a magnetization having a perpendicular magnetization component by a magnetic recording head so as to be reproduced by a magnetic reproducing head, said magnetic recording system comprising:
- a magnetic recording head having a leading side and a trailing side opposite to the leading side, the leading side leading the trailing side in terms of motion relative to the magnetic recording medium, the leading side generating a first magnetic field with a first field strength applied to the magnetic recording medium so as to form a first magnetization on the magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium, the trailing side generating a second magnetic field with a second field strength applied to the magnetic recording medium so as to form a second magnetization on the magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium, and the first field strength being greater than the second field strength; and
- means for applying a recording current to the magnetic recording head, and
- determining means for determining a difference between the first field strength and the second field strength such that a waveform reproduced by the reproducing head from the magnetization recorded by said magnetic recording head on the magnetic recording medium is substantially a single-peak waveform.
- 2. The magnetic recording system according to the claim 1, wherein information is recorded as a magnetization-transition by said system.
- 3. The magnetic recording system according to the claim 1, wherein the second magnetic field from the trailing side remagnetizes a part of the first magnetization of the magnetic layer magnetized by the first magnetic field.
- 4. The magnetic recording system according to claim 3, wherein the second magnetization decreases a longitudinal magnetization component of the first magnetization at the magnetization-transition point.
- 5. The magnetic recording system according to claim 3, wherein the magnetic recording head is a ring type magnetic head.
- 6. The magnetic recording system according to claim 1, wherein the magnetic recording head also functions as a magnetic reproducing head.
- 7. The magnetic recording system according to claim 1 further including a means for determining the recording current, wherein the recording current is determined such that a waveform reproduced by the reproducing head from the magnetization recorded by said system on the magnetic recording medium is a single-peak waveform.
- 8. The magnetic recording system of claim 7, wherein the magnetic recording medium has a perpendicular squareness ratio of 0.5 at a minimum.
- 9. The magnetic recording system of claim 7, wherein the magnetic layer includes hexagonal shape magnetic powder as a major component.
- 10. The magnetic recording system of claim 7, wherein the magnetic layer has a thickness greater than a value obtained by subtracting 0.2 microns from the distance between said leading side and said trailing side of said magnetic recording head.
- 11. The magnetic recording system of claim 7 further including a means for determining the differences between the first and second field strengths, wherein different values between the first field strength and the second field strength are determined so that a reproduced waveform parameter (.theta.) of a waveform reproduced by said magnetic reproducing head is in a range of -20.degree. through +20.degree..
- 12. A magnetic recording system for recording information on a magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium magnetized with a perpendicular magnetization component by a magnetic recording head so as to be reproduced by a magnetic reproducing head, said magnetic recording head including a leading side and a trailing side for recording onto the magnetic recording medium after the leading side, said magnetic recording system comprising:
- means for generating a first magnetic field with a first field strength from the leading side to apply the first magnetic field to the magnetic recording medium, the first field strength being strong enough to magnetize the magnetic layer and means for generating a second magnetic field with a second field strength from the trailing side to apply the second magnetic field to the magnetic recording medium, the second field strength being strong enough to magnetize the magnetic layer, the second field strength being smaller than the first field strength, such that a waveform reproduced by said reproducing head from magnetization reproduced by said system on the magnetic recording medium is a substantially single-peak waveform.
- 13. A magnetic recording system for information on a magnetic recording medium for forming a perpendicular magnetization component using a magnetic recording head so as to be reproduced by a magnetic reproducing head, the magnetic recording head having a leading side and a trailing side separated by a gap, the leading side leading the trailing side in terms of motion relative to the magnetic recording medium, the system comprising:
- means for generating a first magnetic field on the leading side so as to magnetize a deep layer portion of a magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium and means for generating a second magnetic field on the trailing side so as to magnetize a surface layer of the magnetic recording medium such that a waveform reproduced by said reproducing head from a magnetization reproduced by said system on the magnetic recording medium is a substantially single-peak waveform.
- 14. A method for recording information on a magnetic recording medium for forming a perpendicular magnetization component using a magnetic recording head so as to be reproduced by a magnetic reproducing head, the magnetic recording head having a leading side and a trailing side, the method comprising the steps of:
- generating a first magnetic filed on the leading side of the magnetic recording head so as to form a first perpendicular magnetization component on said magnetic recording medium; and
- generating a second magnetic field on the trailing side so as to form a second perpendicular magnetization component on said magnetic recording medium, the field strength of the second magnetic field being smaller than the field strength of the first magnetic field,
- wherein a difference between the first magnetic field strength and the second magnetic field strength is selected such that the reproducing head provides substantially a single-peak waveform.
