Claims
- 1. A magnetic recording/reproduction apparatus adopting as a recording medium a magnetic disk having a rotational position detection index, comprising: pulse detecting means for detecting said index on said magnetic disk so as to extract a pulse corresponding to rotation of said disk, erase recording/reproduction means operative in accordance with the pulse extracted by said pulse detecting means so as to control an erase operation and a recording/reproduction operation, and magnetic head means controlled by said erase recording/reproduction means, wherein said erase recording/reproduction means include a control circuit means for maintaining the erase operation of said magnetic head means over a duration exceeding a time period for one revolution of the magnetic disk, and means for ending the erase operation in synchronism with the pulses issued from said pulse detecting means and for enabling recording operation of the magnetic head means immediately after the erase operation is ended.
- 2. A magnetic recording/reproduction apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said magnetic head means is a composite magnetic head having erase and read/write gaps provided adjacent to each other so as to be separated from each other substantially along the moving direction relative to said magnetic disk.
- 3. A magnetic recording apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said composite magnetic head is arranged so that a plurality of sets of said erase and read/write gaps are provided in parallel so as to correspond to at least two adjacent tracks on said magnetic disk.
- 4. A magnetic recording apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said erase gap of said composite magnetic head is a full width erase gap for erasing a full width of the track on said magnetic disk.
- 5. A magnetic recording apparatus according to claim 2, wherein sad composite magnetic head, a width of said erase gap is larger than that of said read/write gap.
- 6. A magnetic recording apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said erase and read/write gaps of said composite magnetic head are provided substantially parallel to each other.
- 7. A magnetic recording apparatus according to any one of claims 2, wherein said magnetic recording/reproduction apparatus further comprises means for setting a position of said composite magnetic head so that said read/write gap of said composite magnetic head is positioned on a radius connecting the center of said magnetic disk and a detection center of a sensor for detecting said index provided on said magnetic disk.
- 8. A magnetic recording apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said read/write gap is provided at a central portion of said head main body, and said erase gap is provided at a distance from the central portion of said head main body.
- 9. A magnetic recording apparatus according to any one of claim 2, wherein said erase gap of said composite magnetic head is provided at an upstream side of said read/write gap with respect to a movement thereof relative to said magnetic disk.
- 10. A magnetic recording apparatus according to any one of claim 2, wherein said composite magnetic head is formed so that a contact surface of said head main body with said magnetic disk is substantially flat in a moving direction relative to said magnetic disk, and curved in a predetermined radius of curvature in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction.
- 11. A magnetic recording apparatus according to claim 2 wherein said composite magnetic head includes an erase head portion having said erase gap and a read/write head portion having said read/write gap, and said erase and read/write head portions are integrally junctioned through a magnetic shield portion.
