Claims
- 1. A disk apparatus in which a disk medium in a hard case is inserted into and ejected from the disk apparatus, comprising:
- a base having an opening;
- means for recording information into and/or reproducing information from the disk medium;
- containing means for containing the hard case of the disk medium, said containing means being stationary in the disk apparatus, the hard case of the disk medium being inserted into and ejected from said containing means along a translational path;
- rotation means for rotating the disk medium, said rotation means including means for releasable engaging the disk medium;
- a thin plate member supporting said rotation means;
- a lever member mounted to receive a force from the hard case of the disk medium when inserted and to be moved thereby; and
- a guide member, operably connected to said thin plate member and said lever member, said guide member guiding said thin plate member along a perpendicular direction with respect to the translational path and between an engaging position where the means for releasably engaging engages the disk medium and a waiting position offset from the translational path, the thin plate member being biased to move in the perpendicular direction in response to translation of the hard case of the disk medium in the translational path produced by stored energy from, or directly by, insertion force by a user, wherein
- said guide member has a holding portion that holds said lever member at a position to which said lever member is moved by the hard case of the disk medium, said lever member having associated therewith means for opposing the insertion force of the user upon insertion of the hard case of the disk medium into the containing means, and
- further comprising
- release means for releasing said lever member from the holding portion of said guide member, said release means including a motor which rotates through a predetermined angle based on an instruction signal for ejecting the disk medium, said release means further including a reduction gear connected to the motor and moving said guide member.
- 2. A disk apparatus in which a disk medium in a hard case is inserted into and ejected from the disk apparatus, comprising:
- means for recording information into and/or reproducing information from the disk medium;
- a stationary first base;
- a stationary second base forming with said first base an internal space therebetween, said second base having two guide walls in a one-piece construction protruding toward said first base and extending parallel to a translational path along which the hard case is inserted or elected from the disk apparatus to guide the hard case along the translational path;
- rotation means for rotating the disk medium, said rotation means including means for releasably engaging the disk medium;
- a thin plate member supporting said rotation means;
- a lever member mounted to receive and oppose a force from the hard case of the disk medium, corresponding to an insertion force, when inserted by a user, said lever member being moved by the force from the hard case; and
- a guide member, operably connected to said thin plate member and said lever member, said guide member guiding said thin plate member along a perpendicular direction with respect to the translational path and between an engaging position where the means for releasably engaging engages the disk medium and a waiting position offset from the translational path, while the hard case of the disk medium is translated in the translational path, wherein
- said guide member has a holding portion that holds said lever member at a position to which said lever member is moved by the hard case of the disk medium, said lever member having associated therewith means for opposing the insertion force of the user upon insertion of the hard case of the disk medium into said containing means, and
- further comprising release means for releasing said lever member from the holding portion of said guide member, said release means including
- a motor which rotates through a predetermined angle based on an instruction signal for ejecting the disk medium, and
- a reduction gear connected to the motor and moving said guide member.
- 3. A disk apparatus for recording information into and/or reproducing information from a disk medium, comprising:
- a base;
- means for recording information into and/or reproducing information from the disk medium;
- means for carrying said means for recording information and/or reproducing information along a surface of the disk medium, said carrying means being fixed to a location in said disk apparatus;
- containing means for containing the disk medium, said containing means being stationary on said base in said disk apparatus, said containing means having an opening for horizontal insertion and ejection of the disk medium;
- means for engaging the disk medium contained in said containing means, said engaging means facing the surface of the disk medium;
- a motor for rotating said engaging means with the disk medium; and
- means for moving said motor and said engaging means between an engaging position where said engaging means engages the disk medium and a waiting position permitting the disk medium to be inserted into or ejected from said containing means, said moving means including:
- a moving member holding said motor and said engaging means, and having a plurality of projected portions on opposite sides of the moving member with respect to a horizontal insertion direction of the disk medium which is inserted through the opening of said containing means;
- a guide member, provided with said base, for guiding the moving member in a direction perpendicular to the horizontal insertion direction of the disk medium;
- a slide member having inclined grooves for guiding the projected portions of the moving member, the inclined grooves inclining from a first position remote from the surface of the disk medium to a second position closer to the surface of the disk medium than the first position, the slide member further having a lockable portion which is provided near a position where a front end of the hard case of the disk medium is positioned when the hard case of the disk medium has been inserted into said containing means;
- a shaft provided near the lockable portion of the slide member;
- a lever member rotatable about the shaft at a first end of the lever member, the lever member contacting with the disk medium at a second end of the lever member and rotating by receiving a horizontal insertion force of the hard case of the disk medium moving only in a horizontal direction so that the projected portions of the moving member move toward the surface of the disk medium along the inclined grooves of the slide member and so that the slide member is moved in a horizontal direction parallel to the horizontal insertion direction; and
- a locking portion, provided at the first end of the lever member, which engages with the lockable portion of the slide member.
- 4. A disk apparatus having means for containing a disk medium, said containing means having an opening into which the disk medium is insertable and from which the disk medium is ejectable, comprising:
- means for reproducing information from the disk medium;
- means for carrying said reproducing means along a radial direction of the disk medium;
- means for guiding the disk medium only along a straight translational path during insertion into or ejection from the containing means;
- a spindle motor for rotating the disk medium, said spindle motor including means for releasably engaging the disk medium; and
- means for moving said motor and said engaging means between an engaging position where said engaging means engages the disk medium and a waiting position permitting the disk medium to be inserted into or ejected from said containing means, said moving means including:
- a plate member, mounting said spindle motor, for moving said spindle motor, orthogonally to the straight translational path, between the engaging position and the waiting position;
- a guide member for guiding the plate member in a direction orthogonal to the straight translational path;
- a slide member, mechanically connected to the plate member, for causing the plate member to move from a first position remote from the surface of the disk medium to a second position closer to the surface of the disk medium than the first position, said slide member being movable between a first location where the plate member is located in the first position and a second location where the plate member is located in the second position, said slide member including an elongated portion extending along the straight translational path and having a lockable portion at the end of the elongated portion and near a position where a leading edge of the hard case of the disk medium is positioned when the hard case of the disk medium has been inserted into said containing means;
- means for urging said slide member toward the second location;
- a shaft provided near the lockable portion of the slide member and having an axis;
- a lever member rotatable about the axis of the shaft at a first end of the lever member, the lever member contacting the disk medium at a second end of the lever member and rotating in a first direction in accordance with the insertion of the disk medium through the opening of said containing means; and
- a locking portion provided at the first end of the lever member, the locking portion engaging with the lockable portion of the slide member against the urging force of said urging means while the lever member is rotating in order to hold the slide member at the first location, and the locking portion disengaging with the lockable portion of the slide member after the lever member has been moved to a location for which the disk medium has been completely inserted.
- 5. The disk apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said disk medium is contained in a hard case.
- 6. The disk apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said plate member has a plurality of projected portions; and
- wherein said guide member includes inclined grooves having an inclined angle with respect to the translational path, each of said inclined grooves guiding a respective one of said projected portions.
- 7. The disk apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising a spring member operably connected with said lever member to accumulate energy by opposing the insertion force of the hard case of the disk medium through said lever member, to later provide a force to move back the hard case.
- 8. The disk apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said guide member has a holding portion which holds said lever member at a holding position where the hard case of the disk medium has been inserted into the containing means, further comprising:
- means for releasing said lever member from the holding portion of said guide member, said releasing means including:
- a motor that rotates through a predetermined angle based on an instruction signal for ejecting the disk medium; and
- a reduction gear coupled to said motor that rotates through a predetermined angle and coupled to said guide member to move said guide member.
- 9. The disk apparatus according to claim 5, wherein said guiding means comprises a base stationary with respect to said containing means, said base having two guide walls protruding from said stationary base, the two guide walls of said stationary base respectively guiding each of two sides of the hard case of the disk medium, while the disk medium in the hard case is inserted along the straight translational path.
- 10. The disk apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said reproducing means comprises an objective lens for impinging a light beam onto a surface of the disk medium; and
- wherein said spindle motor and said objective lens are provided at one side of the disk medium so that said spindle motor and said objective lens are faced to the surface of the disk medium.
- 11. A disk apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the slide member has a locked portion which is provided near a position where a leading edge of the hard case of the disk medium is positioned when the hard case of the disk medium has been inserted into said containing means;
- said holding means and said releasing means together comprising:
- a shaft provided near the locked portion of the slide member;
- a lever member rotatable about the shaft at a first end of the lever member, the lever member contacting with the disk medium at a second end of the lever member and rotating in a first direction in accordance with the insertion of the disk medium through the opening of said containing means; and
- a locking portion, provided at the first end of the lever member, which engages with the locked portion of the slide member.
