Claims
- 1. A method of recording on a multilayered magnetooptical recording medium that includes a first layer having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as a recording layer and a second layer having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as an auxiliary recording layer, the Curie point of the second layer being higher than that of the first layer comprising heating part of the recording medium to a temperature which is lower than the Curie point of the second layer, and thereafter forming a bit on said first layer by controlling the magnetization direction of the first layer at said part by the magnetization of the second layer at said part.
- 2. A method of recording on a multilayered magnetooptical recording medium that includes a first layer having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as a recording layer and a second layer having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as an auxiliary recording layer, the Curie point of the second layer being higher than that of the first layer comprising heating part of the recording medium approximately to the Curie point of the first layer, and thereafter forming a bit on said first layer by controlling the magnetization direction of the first layer at said part by the magnetization of the second layer at said part.
- 3. An apparatus for recording on a multilayered magnetooptical recording medium that includes a first layer having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as a recording layer and a second layer having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy as an auxiliary recording layer, the Curie point of the second layer being higher than that of the first layer, said apparatus comprising, in addition to said medium:
- (a) a laser beam light source; and
- (b) a controller which controls said light source to provide an intensity so that the temperature of an irradiated part of said medium is raised to a temperature which is lower than the Curie point of said second layer when said laser beam is radiated onto said part of said medium, said medium being constructed so that the direction of magnetization of said first layer at said part is thereafter controlled by the magnetization of said second layer at said part to form a bit on said first layer.
- (a) a laser beam light source; and
- (b) a controller which controls said light source to provide an intensity so that the temperature of an irradiated part of said medium is raised approximately to the temperature of the Curie point of said first layer when said laser beam is radiated onto said part of said medium, said medium being constructed so that the direction of magnetization of said first layer at said part is thereafter controlled by the magnetization of said second layer at said part to form a bit on said first layer.
- 5. A method for forming a bit, wherein a laser beam is temporarily irradiated on a part of a magnetooptical recording medium including first and second layers having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, whereby said part is heated to a temperature level sufficient for reversal of the direction of magnetization of the first layer at said part but insufficient for reversal of the direction of magnetization of the second layer at said part, and is then cooled, the direction of magnetization of the first layer at said part being determined by the direction of magnetization of the second layer at said part, due to the magnetic coupling of said layers, so that said bit is formed at said part of said first layer.
