Claims
- 1. A method of folding a mailer form with a folder-sealer apparatus, wherein (i) said mailer form includes (a) a first edge portion having a first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon, and (b) a second edge portion having a second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon, and (ii) said folder-sealer apparatus includes a first roller and a second roller, with said second roller having a number of sealing projections extending therefrom, comprising the steps of:
- advancing said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller;
- folding said mailer form such that (i) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches is aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of sealing projections of said second roller; and
- sealing said first edge portion of said mailer form to said second edge portion of said mailer form,
- wherein both said folding step and said sealing step are performed contemporaneously with said advancing step.
- 2. The method of claim 1, said sealing step includes the step of urging said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches into contact with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches with said number of sealing projections.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein:
- said mailer form further includes (i) an envelope segment, and (ii) a message segment secured to said envelope segment,
- said folding step includes the step of folding said mailer form such that said message segment is enveloped by said envelope segment, and
- said sealing step includes the step of sealing said message segment within said envelope segment.
- 4. A mailing assembly, comprising:
- a folder-sealer apparatus having a first roller and a second roller, wherein said second roller has a number of sealing projections extending therefrom; and
- a mailer form having (i) a first edge portion which includes a first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon, and (ii) a second edge portion having a second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon,
- wherein said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of sealing projections of said second roller.
- 5. The assembly of claim 4, wherein:
- said mailer form further has (i) an envelope segment, and (ii) a message segment secured to said envelope segment, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded such that said message segment is enveloped by said envelope segment, and (ii) said message segment is sealed within said envelope segment.
- 6. The assembly of claim 5, wherein both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are disposed on said envelope segment.
- 7. The assembly of claim 5, wherein:
- said mailer form further has a perforation line, and
- said perforation line is positioned between said envelope segment and said message segment.
- 8. The assembly of claim 4, wherein:
- said first edge portion of said mailer form includes a first transverse edge portion,
- said second edge portion of said mailer form includes a second transverse edge portion,
- said number of sealing projections extending from said second roller include a number of annular rings, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said first transverse edge portion is aligned with said second transverse edge portion, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said first transverse edge portion are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said second transverse edge portion, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of annular rings of said second roller.
- 9. The assembly of claim 8, wherein:
- said first roller and said second roller are biased toward one another so as to generate a sealing force, and
- said mailer form is configured such that a portion of said sealing force is exerted on said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches by said number of annular rings when said mailer form is advanced between said first roller and said second roller.
- 10. The assembly of claim 4, wherein:
- said first edge portion includes a first lateral edge portion,
- said second edge portion includes a second lateral edge portion,
- said number of sealing projections extending from said second roller include a number of deformable annular ring assemblies secured to an end portion of said second roller, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said first lateral edge portion is aligned with said second lateral edge portion, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said first lateral edge portion are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said second lateral edge portion, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of annular ring assemblies of said second roller.
- 11. The assembly of claim 10, wherein:
- said first roller and said second roller are biased toward one another so as to generate a sealing force, and
- said mailer form is configured such that a portion of said sealing force is exerted on said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches by said number of deformable annular ring assemblies when said mailer form is advanced between said first roller and said second roller.
- 12. A mailing assembly, comprising:
- a folder-sealer apparatus having a first roller and a second roller, said second roller having a number of sealing projections extending therefrom; and
- a mailer form adapted to be advanced through said folder-sealer apparatus including
- a first edge portion having a first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon; and
- a second edge portion having a second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon,
- wherein said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of sealing projections of said second roller.
- 13. The mailer form of claim 12, further comprising:
- an envelope segment; and
- a message segment secured to said envelope segment,
- wherein said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded such that said message segment is enveloped by said envelope segment, and (ii) said message segment is sealed within said envelope segment.
- 14. The mailer form of claim 13, wherein both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are disposed on said envelope segment.
- 15. The mailer form of claim 13, further comprising a perforation line, wherein said perforation line is positioned between said envelope segment and said message segment.
- 16. The mailer form of claim 12, wherein:
- said first edge portion includes a first transverse edge portion,
- said second edge portion includes a second transverse edge portion,
- said number of sealing projections extending from said second roller include a number of annular rings, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said first transverse edge portion is aligned with said second transverse edge portion, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said first transverse edge portion are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said second transverse edge portion, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of annular rings of said second roller.
- 17. The mailer form of claim 16, wherein:
- said first roller and said second roller are biased toward one another so as to generate a sealing force, and
- said mailer form is configured such that a portion of said sealing force is exerted on said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches by said number of annular rings when said mailer form is advanced between said first roller and said second roller.
- 18. The mailer form of claim 12, wherein:
- said first edge portion includes a first lateral edge portion,
- said second edge portion includes a second lateral edge portion,
- said number of sealing projections extending from said second roller include a number of deformable annular ring assemblies secured to an end portion of said second roller, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said first lateral edge portion is aligned with said second lateral edge portion, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said first lateral edge portion are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said second lateral edge portion, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of annular ring assemblies of said second roller.
- 19. The mailer form of claim 18, wherein:
- said first roller and said second roller are biased toward one another so as to generate a sealing force, and
- said mailer form is configured such that a portion of said sealing force is exerted on said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches by said number of deformable annular ring assemblies when said mailer form is advanced between said first roller and said second roller.
- 20. A mailing assembly, comprising:
- a folder-sealer apparatus having a first roller and a second roller, said second roller having a number of sealing projections extending therefrom; and
- a mailer form adapted to be advanced through said folder-sealer apparatus including
- an envelope segment having (i) a first edge portion which has a first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon, and (ii) a second edge portion which has a second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed thereon; and
- a message segment secured to said envelope segment,
- wherein said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said message segment is enveloped by said envelope segment, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of sealing projections of said second roller such that said message segment is sealed within said envelope segment when said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are urged into contact with one another by said number of sealing projections.
- 21. The mailer form of claim 20, wherein:
- said first edge portion of said envelope segment includes a first transverse edge portion,
- said second edge portion of said envelope segment includes a second transverse edge portion,
- said number of sealing projections extending from said second roller include a number of annular rings, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said first transverse edge portion is aligned with said second transverse edge portion, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said first transverse edge portion are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said second transverse edge portion, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of annular rings of said second roller.
- 22. The mailer form of claim 21, wherein:
- said first roller and said second roller are biased toward one another so as to generate a sealing force, and
- said mailer form is configured such that a portion of said sealing force is exerted on said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches by said number of annular rings when said mailer form is advanced between said first roller and said second roller.
- 23. The mailer form of claim 20, wherein:
- said first edge portion of said envelope segment includes a first lateral edge portion,
- said second edge portion of said envelope segment includes a second lateral edge portion,
- said number of sealing projections extending from said second roller include a number of deformable annular ring assemblies secured to an end portion of said second roller, and
- said mailer form is configured such that during advancement of said mailer form between said first roller and said second roller (i) said mailer form is folded by said first roller and said second roller such that (a) said first lateral edge portion is aligned with said second lateral edge portion, and (b) said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said first lateral edge portion are aligned with said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches disposed on said second lateral edge portion, and (ii) both said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches are aligned with said number of annular ring assemblies of said second roller.
- 24. The mailer form of claim 23, wherein:
- said first roller and said second roller are biased toward one another so as to generate a sealing force, and
- said mailer form is configured such that a portion of said sealing force is exerted on said first number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches and said second number of pressure sensitive adhesive patches by said number of deformable annular ring assemblies when said mailer form is advanced between said first roller and said second roller.
- 25. The mailer form of claim 20, further comprising a perforation line, wherein said perforation line is positioned between said envelope segment and said message segment.
