Description
BACKGROUND

The present invention relates generally to a cosmetic holder and, more specifically, to a cosmetic palette apparatus that accepts cosmetic pans of varying shapes and sizes.

Generally speaking, cosmeticians experience considerable difficulty when working with different shades of makeup. Recent advances in the makeup industry and the art of makeup itself, require cosmeticians to use large number makeup supplies and applicators. These supplies include a wide range shades and colors which can be selected during a makeup sessions. Currently, not all of the makeup manufactures include all colors and shade in one makeup pallet, and doing so would require a very large makeup pallet.

Furthermore, because cosmeticians often work in a confined area, they need to be very conservative with the space and selection of makeup apparatuses. In order to avoid clutter and confusion on the make artist's cosmetic area, cosmeticians may not be able to utilize all the makeups they have during a makeup session. Therefore, a need exist for a product that allows an artist to carry large number of makeup palettes while keeping them in a small space and in and organized manner.

The makeup apparatus may further comprise of each one of the makeup palettes having a handle member for removing the makeup palettes from the housing. The perimeter of the open side may include a magnet receptive member for securing the door member to the housing by engaging the magnet member. The slots are shaped corresponding to the shape of the makeup pallets. The housing may also include makeup applicators such as brush, pad, and foam.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SPECIFIC EXAMPLES

The following disclosure makes reference to cosmetic pans, which are the pans or pots in which makeup products are contained. For example, a cosmetics company may manufactures eye shadow, blush, or bronzer compounds for retail sales will place the manufactured compounds in cosmetic pots or pans, and then the pans inside palettes for the end user.

FIGS. 1-3 show a cosmetic apparatus 10. The cosmetic apparatus 10 comprises a housing 12. The housing 12 may be shaped similar to a box, cube, cylinder, semi-cylinder or a combination thereof. The housing 12 may be made of glass, wood, plastic, fiberglass, metal or a combination thereof. The housing 12 further comprises an open side 14, where the open side 14 may be closed off with a door member 16. The door member 16 may be coupled to the housing 12, adjacent the open side 14. Further, at least one side of the housing 12 may include a transparent portion 13.

In the present invention, the door member 16 moves between an opened arrangement 18 (shown in FIG. 1) and a closed arrangement 20 (shown in FIG. 2) for uncovering and covering the open side 14 respectively. In some embodiments, at least one side of door member 16 may be a reflective surface. The reflective surface may be a mirror. Further, the door member 16 may be integral to the housing 12, where in the door moves along a horizontal axis 22 adjacent to the open side 14. In other embodiments, the door member 16 may be coupled to the housing 12 using at least one hinge (not shown) to allow the door member 16 to move about an axis adjacent to the housing 12.

The door member 16 may be secured to the housing 12 using am locking mechanism. The locking mechanism may be an invisible locking mechanism. The locking mechanism may include a magnet member and magnet receptive member (not shown). The magnet member may be a magnet and the magnet receptive member may be a piece of metal. In the present embodiment, the magnet member may be positioned within the door member 16. The magnet receptive member may be positioned within the perimeter 24 of the open side 14. This arrangement allows the door member 16 to securely couple to the housing 12 for covering the open side 14.

In addition, a plurality of slots 30 are defined within the housing 12. The plurality of slots 30 are accessible from the open side 14. In present embodiments, the slots 30 have rectangular cross section and are laterally arranged above each other. Each slot of the plurality of slots 30 has a rectangular cross-section, and it is configured to receive at least one makeup pallet 40 therein. Furthermore, each slot of the plurality of slots 30 has a depth that extends for majority of the depth of the housing 12. In one embodiment, the housing may comprise of at least two slots. In an exemplary embodiment, the makeup may comprise of 7 to 9 slots. Furthermore, at least one slot 30′, may be larger than the rest of slots 30. The at least one large slot 30′ may be configured to receive at least one make up applicator therein 32. For example, the makeup applicator 32 may be one of brush, foam, pad, or a combination thereof.

In the present embodiments, the plurality of slots 30 may be configured to be rearranged as desired. Furthermore, the plurality of slots 30 may be arranged in a combination of lateral 36 and vertical 30 slots, wherein at least one slot is positioned vertically while, rest of the slots 30 are positioned laterally to a side of the vertical slot 36. In addition, at least one slot may form a cylindrical cavity within the open side 12, or it may be configured to have a cavity for receiving at least one makeup tool such as nail polish, brush, lip glass or the like therein.

The makeup palettes 40 may be rectangular palettes sized to fit into to the plurality of slots 30. The makeup palettes 40 further comprise a plurality of cosmetic pans 42. The cosmetic pans 42 of each makeup palette may be equally sized, while the cosmetic pans 42 of adjacent makeup palettes 40 may not be equally sized.

Furthermore, in the present embodiment, each makeup palette 40 is slideably removable from its relative slot 30. A handle member 44 may be used for removing each makeup palette 40 from its relative slot 30. In some embodiments, the plurality of slots 30 are configured to receive at least two makeup palettes 40 therein. In an exemplary embodiment, the housing 12 may receive seven (7) makeup palettes therein. Each makeup palette 40 may further comprise of a cover member (not shown) to cover the plurality of the cosmetic pans 42. The cover member may be a plastic or glass cover member.

In an alternative embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the makeup apparatus 100 comprises a housing 102. The housing 102 comprises of plurality of equally sized slots 300. Each slot has a depth that extends for majority of the depth of the housing. The plurality of equally sized slots 300 may only receive makeup pallets 40.

In this embodiment, the housing 100 may include no more than eight (8) slots 300. The plurality of slots 300 are equally sized and each slot of the plurality of slot 300 has a rectangular cross-section. The housing 100 comprises a door member 302, wherein the door member 302 hingedly coupled to the housing 100. Here, the door member 302, also moves between opened and closed arrangements.
