Claims
- 1. An apparatus for fracturing a powder metal bearing support having stress risers to initiate cracking along a predetermined cracking plane, comprising:
- (a) a fixture assembly for holding one internal side of said bearing stationary, said one internal side being on one side of said cracking plane; and
- (b) means for fracturingly pulling a second internal side of said bearing away from said one internal side along a track in a direction substantially perpendicular to said cracking plane and without reacting against said one internal side.
- 2. An apparatus for fracturing an annular bearing support, fracturable at room temperature, said support having stress risers to initiate cracking along a predetermined cracking plane, comprising:
- (a) a fixture assembly for holding one internal side of said bearing support substantially stationary, said one internal side being on one side of said cracking plane; and
- (b) means for fracturing by pulling a second internal side of said bearing support away from said one internal side along essentially a straight path in a direction substantially perpendicular to said cracking plane and without reacting against said one internal side.
