As a child my dad always encouraged my siblings and I to open the ice chest as minimally as possible in order to keep our ice from melting and food preserved for as long as possible when we went on camping trips. This same goal has always been apparent when tailgating with friends or family. This product would make it very efficient for an ice chest to be left out with cans or bottles inside for prolonged periods of time without losing much of the cold air as this secondary or primary lid if no other lid attached by allowing for a somewhat closed cover that would also allow for quick and easy access to the cans or bottles inside.
The same goes for storing warm food. For example, this product may be used to store heated food such as dinner rolls that are preferred to stay warm while being accessible to the user to access easily without letting all the heat escape by opening a lid fully or leaving out in the open on a plate.
This product may be clear or in any color or material that is flexible or malleable that would allow for the user to reach through the opening. By using a clear silicone the user would be able to both see into the container and reach through and access the contained food or materials with minimal exposure of other inner contents to outside elements.
Cover for an ice chest or container that can be reached through by the user while still fully attached. This is to specify a lid, door or cover or enclosure either attached permanently or temporarily to a container (appliance or ice chest or container of any kind alike) that is or can be used to store warm or cold food or other material.
The purpose of this invention is to provide a single or secondary lid, cover or enclosure that provides access through a flexible opening. The main function of this product would be to create a more efficient option of storing and being able to access the stored material while reducing the amount of loss of cold or hot/warm air emitted when the container is open or the primary lid is open.
This cover may be made at least in part out of silicone or other flexible or malleable material in order to allow for an opening of any size (small or large) in any pattern of the opening that allows to reach through that the user may be able to easily reach through to access the contained food or other material while minimizing the exposure of the contained food/beverage, ice or other material to outside elements and reduce the loss of cold or warm/hot air from inside the container—prolonging the temperature of the storage container or ice chest or appliance alike.
This product could be in the form of a stretchable cover (lid of sort) that would be able to attach to a preexisting container such as an ice chest and would fit between the container and the container's lid or be removed when the primary lid needs to be closed, or this product would be a secondary lid that can possibly latch onto the preexisting lid and either be opened along with it or left closed while the primary lid is opened.
The opening may be in any shape or pattern and may have a separate attachment piece that allows for full closure (smaller lid that would enclose the opening when desired).
A first exemplary embodiment would be a stretchable material such as silicone or other that would allow for some amount of stretching to fit around the edges of an ice chest. This would allow for the product to be temporarily affixed to the ice chest and provide a cover that would allow for the user to reach through and access the contents.
A second exemplary embodiment would be a secondary lid of some sort (one that either can Itach to the primary lid or function separately—both would allow for the user to open the primary full lid and still utilize this secondary lid in order to minimize or reduce the amount of exposure of the inner contents of the container or ice chest to our elements or lose cold or warm/hot air from inside.
