Claims
- 1. An isolated polypeptide having Lysophosphatidic Acid Acyltransferase (LPAAT) activity comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO. 2 or SEQ. ID NO. 8, and enzymatically active fragments thereof.
- 2. The polypeptide of claim 1, wherein said polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO. 2.
- 3. The polypeptide of claim 1, wherein said polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO. 8.
- 4. A method of screening one or more agents for the ability to inhibit or stimulate LPAAT enzymatic activity in a cell-free or cell-based assay, comprising:
- (a) contacting an LPAAT polypeptide according to claim 1, or contacting a cell that recombinantly expresses said LPAAT polypeptide, with said one or more agents under assay conditions suitable for the detection of said enzymatic activity; and
- (b) measuring whether said enzymatic activity is thereby inhibited or stimulated by said one or more agents,
- wherein said agents are selected from compounds, compositions, antibodies or antibody fragments, antisense sequences and ribozyme nucleotide sequences for said LPAAT polypeptide.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said one or more agents is selected from a combinatorial chemical library.
