Claims
- 1. A heat transfer system comprising
- a shell,
- a manifold fixed to said shell,
- a tube bundle within said shell and having a plurality of horizontally disposed tubes, each with a feed portion in communication at a first end with said manifold and a return portion in communication at a first end with said manifold, said return portion being positioned below said feed portion, a first upper group of feed portions of said tubes being a first pass path, a first lower group of return portions of said tubes forming said first pass path being a second pass path, the remaining group of feed portions of said tubes being a third pass path and the remaining group of return portions being a fourth pass path,
- a tube sheet in said shell between said manifold and said tube bundle,
- baffle means in said manifold for directing flow to said tubes, said baffle means including a baffle dividing the interior of said manifold, a first frame fixed to one side of said baffle, a second frame fixed to the other side of said baffle, a first distribution box positioned in said first frame against the tube sheet, and a second distribution box positioned in said second frame against the tube sheet, said baffle, said first box, said second box, and said manifold housing defining four cavities in communication with the tube sheet.
- 2. A heat transfer system comprising
- a shell,
- a manifold fixed to said shell,
- a tube bundle within said shell and having a plurality of horizontally disposed tubes, each with a feed portion in communication at a first end with said manifold and a return portion in communication at a first end with said manifold, said return portion being positioned below said feed portion, a first upper group of feed portions of said tubes being a first pass path, a first lower group of return portions of said tubes forming said first pass path being a second pass path, the remaining group of feed portions of said tubes being a third pass path and the remaining group of return portions being a fourth pass path,
- a tube sheet in said shell between said manifold and said tube bundle,
- baffle means in said manifold for directing flow to said tubes, said baffle means including a baffle dividing the interior of said manifold, a first frame fixed to one side of said baffle, a second frame fixed to the other side of said baffle, a first distribution box positioned in said first frame against the tube sheet, a second distribution box positioned in said second frame against the tube sheet, and adjustable compression members extending between said first and said second frames and said first and said second distribution boxes, said baffle, said first box, said second box, and said manifold housing defining four cavities in communication with the tube sheet.
- 3. A heat transfer system comprising
- a shell,
- a manifold fixed to said shell,
- a tube bundle within said shell and having a plurality of horizontally disposed tubes, each with a feed portion in communication at a first end with said manifold and a return portion in communication at a first end with said manifold, said return portion being positioned below said feed portion, a first upper group of feed portions of said tubes being a first pass path, a first lower group of return portions of said tubes forming said first pass path being a second pass path, the remaining group of feed portions of said tubes being a third pass path and the remaining group of return portions being a fourth pass path,
- a tube sheet in said shell between said manifold and said tube bundle,
- baffle means in said manifold for directing flow to said tubes, said baffle means including a baffle dividing the interior of said manifold, a first frame fixed to one side of said baffle, a second frame fixed to the other side of said baffle, a first distribution box positioned in said first frame against the tube sheet, a second distribution box positioned in said second frame against the tube sheet, and gaskets positioned between said distribution boxes and said tube sheets, said baffle, said first box, said second box, and said manifold housing defining four cavities in communication with the tube sheet.
- 4. A heat transfer system comprising
- a shell,
- a manifold fixed to said shell,
- a tube bundle within said shell and having a plurality of horizontally disposed tubes, each with a feed portion in communication at a first end with said manifold and a return portion in communication at a first end with said manifold, said return portion being positioned below said feed portion, a first upper group of feed portions of said tubes being a first pass path, a first lower group of return portions of said tubes forming said first pass path being a second pass path, the remaining group of feed portions of said tubes being a third pass path and the remaining group of return portions being a fourth pass path,
- a tube sheet in said shell between said manifold and said tube bundle,
- baffle means in said manifold for directing flow to said tubes, said baffle means including a baffle dividing the interior of said manifold, a first frame fixed to one side of said baffle, a second frame fixed to the other side of said baffle, a first distribution box positioned in said first frame against the tube sheet, and a second distribution box positioned in said second frame against the tube sheet, said baffle, said first box, said second box, and said manifold housing defining four cavities in communication with the tube sheet, said first and second frames and said first and second distribution boxes being positioned inwardly and spaced from the wall of said manifold.
- 5. A heat transfer system comprising
- a shell,
- a manifold fixed to said shell,
- a tube bundle within said shell and having a plurality of horizontally disposed tubes, each with a feed portion in communication at a first end with said manifold and a return portion in communication at a first end with said manifold, said return portion being positioned below said feed portion, a first upper group of feed portions of said tubes being a first pass path, a first lower group of return portions of said tubes forming said first pass path being a second pass path, the remaining group of feed portions of said tubes being a third pass path and the remaining group of return portions being a fourth pass path,
- a tube sheet in said shell between said manifold and said tube bundle,
- baffle means in said manifold for directing flow to said tubes, said baffle means including a baffle dividing the interior of said manifold, a first frame fixed to one side of said baffle, a second frame fixed to the other side of said baffle, a first distribution box positioned in said first frame against the tube sheet, a second distribution box positioned in said second frame against the tube sheet, and adjustable compression members extending between said first and second frames and said first and second distribution boxes, said compression members including fasteners in threaded engagement with said frames and constructed and arranged to be adjustably screwed against the walls of said boxes to hold said boxes against said baffle and said tube sheet, said baffle, said first box, said second box, and said manifold housing defining four cavities in communication with the tube sheet.
- 6. A heat transfer system comprising
- a shell,
- a manifold fixed to said shell,
- a tube bundle within said shell and having a plurality of horizontally disposed tubes, each with a feed portion in communication at a first end with said manifold and a return portion in communication at a first end with said manifold, said return portion being positioned below said feed portion, a first upper group of feed portions of said tubes being a first pass path, a first lower group of return portions of said tubes forming said first pass path being a second pass path, the remaining group of feed portions of said tubes being a third pass path and the remaining group of return portions being a fourth pass path,
- a tube sheet in said shell between said manifold and said tube bundle,
- baffle means in said manifold for directing flow to said tubes, said baffle means including a baffle dividing the interior of said manifold, a first frame fixed to one side of said baffle, a second frame fixed to the other side of said baffle, a first distribution box positioned in said first frame against the tube sheet, and a second distribution box positioned in said second frame against the tube sheet, said baffle, said first box, said second box, and said manifold housing defining four cavities in communication with the tube sheet, said baffle including a mounting flange fixed to the inner side of said manifold and a mounting plate extending within said manifold to said mounting flange to divide the interior of said manifold, said first and second frames being fixed to said mounting plate.
