Claims
- 1. A manipulation element for closing and latching a rear spoiler of a boot on a leg of a skier, wherein said boot further comprises a cable attached to said boot and said element, wherein one end of said element is journalled on said rear spoiler, wherein the journalling of said element on said spoiler tensions said cable, wherein tensioning of said cable closes said spoiler on said leg, wherein said element comprises first and second spaced apart arms extending in substantially the same direction and having first and second ends, respectively, and a third arm connecting said first and second ends of said first and second arms, wherein said first and second arms are spaced a sufficient distance from each other to form a continuous empty space therebetween to permit another manipulation element to be positioned therebetween, and wherein said manipulation element is not secured for movement with said another manipulation element.
- 2. The said manipulation element defined by claim 1 wherein manipulation element comprises a manipulation lever journalled on said spoiler.
- 3. The manipulation element defined by claim 2 in combination with said another manipulation element, wherein said another manipulation element has a different function than said manipulation element.
- 4. The manipulation element defined by claim 2 wherein said first and second arms comprise two lateral arms wherein said third arm comprises a lower end portion positioned between said arms, wherein said cable is connected to said manipulation element at said lower end portion.
- 5. The manipulation element defined by claim 4 wherein said boot further comprises a rigid shell base and an upper, wherein said upper comprises a rear spoiler and a cuff, wherein said rear spoiler is at least partially journalled on said shell base around a transverse axis.
- 6. The manipulation element defined by claim 5, in combination with said boot wherein said boot further comprises two anchors positioned on each lateral side of said cuff for anchoring said cable thereon, wherein said boot further comprises two guides positioned on each lateral side of said spoiler for guiding said cable between said anchors and said manipulation element.
- 7. The manipulation element defined by claim 6 wherein each anchor comprises a hook and rack-type anchor for adjusting the position of said cable on the cuff.
- 8. The manipulation element defined by claim 5 wherein said leg comprises an anterior portion, wherein said cuff further comprises means for guiding said cable over or in said cuff and for permitting said cable to surround the anterior portion of said leg.
- 9. The manipulation element defined by claim 1 wherein said rear spoiler comprises a dorsal portion, wherein said manipulation element is journalled on said dorsal portion of said rear spoiler.
- 10. The manipulation element as defined by claim 1 in combination with said another manipulation element, said manipulation element being adapted for independent movement relative to said another manipulation element.
- 11. A rear entry ski boot for holding the foot and leg of a skier, wherein said boot comprises:
- (a) a rigid shell base;
- (b) an upper, wherein said upper comprises:
- (i) a cuff; and
- (ii) a rear spoiler at least partially journalled on said shell base around a transverse axis;
- (c) a manipulation lever journalled on said rear spoiler wherein said manipulation lever comprises means for closing and latching said rear spoiler on the leg of a skier in response to journalling said lever, wherein said lever comprises first and second spaced apart arms extending in substantially the same direction and having first and second ends, respectfully, and a third arm connecting said first and second ends wherein said first and second arms are spaced a sufficient distance apart to form a continuous empty space therebetween to receive a manipulation element having a function different from and unassociated with said manipulation lever.
- 12. The boot defined by claim 11 in combination with said manipulation element.
- 13. The boot defined by claim 11 wherein said lever comprises a lower end portion, wherein said boot further comprises:
- (d) a cable, attached to said lower end portion of said lever, wherein said cable is placed under tension in response to journalling of said lever so as to comprise means for closing and latching said spoiler on said leg.
- 14. The boot defined by claim 13 further comprising:
- (e) two anchors positioned on each lateral side of said cuff for anchoring said cable thereon; and
- (f) two guides positioned on each lateral side of said rear spoiler for guiding said cable between said anchor and said lower portion of said lever.
- 15. The boot defined by claim 11 wherein said spoiler comprises a dorsal portion, wherein said lever is journalled on said dorsal portion of said rear spoiler and said lever extends over said dorsal portion of said rear spoiler.
- 16. An apparatus for manipulating means for closing an upper of a boot on the lower leg of a skier and means for tightening the heel of the skier in the boot, wherein said apparatus comprises:
- (a) means for actuating said closing means to close said upper on said lower leg of said skier; and
- (b) means for actuating said tightening means to tighten the heel of the skier in said boot, wherein said means recited in paragraphs (a) and (b) are separate means, and one of said means at least partially surrounds the other of said means.
- 17. The apparatus as defined by claim 16 wherein said means for actuating said closing means comprises a manipulation element journalled on said boot and comprising first and second spaced apart arms extending substantially in the same direction and having first and second ends, respectfully, and a third arm connecting said first and second arms.
- 18. The apparatus as defined by claim 17 wherein said means for actuating said tightening means is positioned between said first and second arms.
- 19. The apparatus defined by claim 18 wherein said means for actuating said tightening means comprises an element having a circular periphery attached to said boot.
- 20. The apparatus defined by claim 19 wherein said one of said means comprises two arms, spaced from each other, wherein said other of said means is positioned between said two arms.
