- said article is highly thermally conductive.
- 12. An article in accordance with claim 1, wherein said particles further comprise an interfacial coating formed on surfaces of said particles and upon which said coating comprising said second material is formed.
- 13. An article in accordance with claim 12, wherein said interfacial coating comprises a catalyst that accelerates a reaction through which said coating comprising said second material is formed on said interfacial coating.
- 14. An article in accordance with claim 12, wherein said interfacial coating forms a chemical bond with said first material.
- 15. An article in accordance with claim 12, wherein said interfacial coating forms a chemical bond with said second material.
- 16. An article comprising a plurality of particles comprising a first material having a first value of at least one intrinsic property and having surfaces on which a pre-coat is formed, said particles being consolidated with a matrix material comprising a second material having a second value of said at least one intrinsic property, said second value differing from said first value and said second material being reactive with said first material, to cause said particles and said matrix material to be joined to each other in an article, said pre-coat on said surfaces of said particle impeding said first and second materials from reacting with each other.
- 17. An article in accordance with claim 16 wherein said article exhibits a third value of said at least one intrinsic property and the volume of said second material in said article being relative to the volume of said first material in said article, and said first material, said second material, and said volume of said matrix material relative to said volume of said particle are selected in a manner such that said article exhibits said third value of said at least one intrinsic property.
- 18. An article in accordance with claim 16, wherein said pre-coat forms a chemical bond with said first material.
- 19. An article in accordance with claim 16, wherein said pre-coat forms a chemical bond with said second material.
- 20. An article comprising a plurality of particles at least some of which comprise a first material and have surfaces on which a coating comprising a second material is formed, said particles being compacted to a density and to a shape, and joined together to form said article without increasing said density of said compacted particles and without substantially changing said shape of said article.
- 21. An article in accordance with claim 20, wherein said density is selected to cause said article to exhibit an intrinsic property.
- 22. An article comprising a plurality of particles, at least some of which comprise a first material and have surfaces on which a coating comprising a second material is formed, said particles being consolidated in a manner such that said particles are joined to each other to form said article, said article having a density, said first and second materials being selected in a manner such that said article exhibits a intrinsic property and said density being selected to control said intrinsic property as a function of temperature.
