Claims
- 1. A manure spreading apparatus comprising:
- a manure containing portion having a top and a bottom interconnected with sidewalls and a pair of endwalls;
- an auger rotatably mounted in the manure containing portion adjacent said bottom, said auger including first and second ends each extending through a respective slot formed in each endwall, said ends being movable within said slots;
- means operably connected for retaining movement of each end in said slots;
- bearings connected to each respective one of said ends to rotatively support said auger;
- means connected to said spreader adjacent each endwall operable for moving said auger within limits of said slots; and
- auger indicator means connected to said auger and extending above said top for visually indicating relative positions of said auger in said slots.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said auger indicator means includes a rod connected to one of said bearings and extending upwardly therefrom through a guide affixed to the adjacent said endwall to project above said top, such that the height of said rod above said top is indicative of the position of said auger within said slots.
- 3. A manure spreading apparatus comprising:
- a manure containing portion having a top and a bottom interconnected with sidewalls and a pair of endwalls;
- an auger rotatably mounted in a rotating position extending between the endwalls;
- lift means interconnecting the spreader and auger for vertically raising said auger within slots formed in said endwalls relative to said manure containing portion from said rotating position to a second rotating position, said auger being separable from said lift means to permit said auger to be raised by forces exerted thereon by other than said lift means; and
- indicator means connected to said auger and extending above said top for visually indicating relative positions of said auger in said slots.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3 including:
- bearings rotatably supporting each said auger end adjacent each respective slot, said lift means being engageable with said bearings to effect vertical movement of said auger ends, said indicator means being operatively connected to one of said bearings.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein said indicator means comprises:
- a guide mounted on one of said endwalls; and
- a rod member connected to said one bearing and extending upwardly therefrom through said guide to extend above said top such that the height of said rod above said top is indicative of the position of said auger within the slot corresponding to said one bearing.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein said indicator means is positioned at a forwardmost endwall.
