Claims
- 1. An impact marking tool comprising,
- a pin member,
- said pin member having an elongated body portion with a striking end portion and an opposite end portion, said pin member opposite end portion having a shoulder portion perpendicular to said elongated body portion,
- a bushing having a generally cylindrical configuration, said bushing including a first threaded bore extending a first preselected distance into said bushing, a second bore extending a second preselected distance from said first threaded bore and having a diameter smaller than a diameter of said first threaded bore, and a third bore extending a third preselected distance from said second bore, said third bore having a diameter smaller than said diameter of said second bore, said first, second and third bores arranged to receive a portion of said pin member,
- said bushing second and third bores arranged to form a bushing shoulder portion perpendicular to said second and third bores for supporting said pin member opposite end portion shoulder portion,
- said bushing shoulder portion being positioned at a preselected location within said bushing to position said pin member striking end portion a preselected distance from said bushing, and
- means engaging said first threaded bore for releasably connecting said bushing to said pin member opposite end portion.
- 2. An impact marking tool as set forth in claim 1 in which,
- said pin member opposite end portion shoulder portion is supported by said bushing shoulder portion to stabilize said pin member within said bushing.
- 3. An impact marking tool as set forth in claim 1 in which,
- said pin member opposite end portion having said shoulder portion thereon forms an enlarged head end portion, said enlarged head end portion being supported by said bushing shoulder portion.
- 4. An impact marking tool comprising,
- a pin member,
- said pin member having an elongated body portion with a striking end portion and an opposite end portion,
- a bushing having a plurality of bores aligned to receive said pin member, a pair of said bores arranged to form a ledge portion for supporting said pin member opposite end portion, said plurality of bores forming an opening which extends through said bushing,
- said ledge portion being positioned at a preselected location within said bushing to position said pin member striking end portion a preselected distance from said bushing,
- means engaging one of said bores for releasably connecting said bushing to said pin member opposite end portion, and
- a spacing element positioned in one of said bushing bores between said pin member opposite end portion and said means for connecting said bushing to said pin member opposite end portion to increase the distance between said pin member striking end portion and said bushing.
- 5. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object comprising,
- a marking pin,
- said marking pin having an elongated shaft portion with a striking end portion and an enlarged head end portion opposite said striking end portion, said marking pin enlarged head end portion having a shoulder portion which is perpendicular to said elongated shaft portion,
- a bushing having a generally cylindrical outer configuration, said bushing including a first threaded bore extending a first preselected distance into said bushing, a second bore extending a second preselected distance from said first threaded bore and having a diameter smaller than a diameter of said first threaded bore, and a third bore extending a third preselected distance from said second bore, said third bore having a diameter smaller than said diameter of said second bore, said first, second and third bores arranged to receive a portion of said marking pin,
- said second and third bores arranged to form a bushing shoulder portion perpendicular to said second and third bores for supporting said marking pin enlarged head end portion shoulder portion,
- said bushing shoulder portion being positioned at a preselected location within said bushing to position said marking pin striking end portion a preselected distance from said bushing,
- connecting means engaging said first threaded bore for releasably connecting said bushing with said marking pin, and
- spacing element means positioned in said bushing second bore between said marking pin enlarged head end portion and said connecting means to maintain said marking pin enlarged head end portion in abutting relation with said bushing shoulder portion to increase a distance between said marking pin striking end portion and said bushing.
- 6. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object as set forth in claim 5 in which,
- said connecting means is threadedly advanced in said first threaded bore into abutting contact with said spacing element means to maintain said spacing element means in abutting contact with said marking pin enlarged head end portion.
- 7. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object as set forth in claim 5 in which,
- said marking pin elongated shaft portion has a preselected length to allow said marking pin striking end portion to extend a predetermined distance from said bushing.
- 8. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object as set forth in claim 5 in which,
- said marking pin elongated shaft portion has a preselected diameter.
- 9. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object as set forth in claim 5 in which,
- said diameter of said bushing third bore is substantially equal to said preselected diameter of said marking pin elongated shaft portion to stabilize said marking pin elongated shaft portion within said bushing third bore.
- 10. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object comprising,
- a marking pin,
- said marking pin having an elongated shaft portion with a striking end portion and an enlarged head end portion opposite said striking end portion,
- a bushing having a first threaded bore extending a preselected distance into said bushing,
- a second bore extending a preselected distance from said first bore, said second bore having a diameter smaller than a diameter of said first bore,
- a third bore extending a preselected distance from said second bore, said third bore having a diameter smaller than said diameter of said second bore,
- the difference in diameters between said second and said third bores forming a ledge portion for supporting said enlarged head end portion,
- said ledge portion being positioned at a preselected location within said bushing to position said marking pin striking end portion a preselected distance from said bushing, and
- connecting means engaging said first threaded bore for maintaining said marking pin enlarged head end portion in abutting relation with said ledge portion.
- 11. An apparatus slidably retained within a marking head body bore for impact marking the surface of an object comprising,
- a marking pin,
- said marking pin having an elongated shaft portion with a striking end portion and an enlarged head end portion opposite said striking end portion,
- a bushing having a plurality of bores aligned to receive said marking pin, a pair of said bores arranged to form a ledge portion for supporting said marking pin enlarged head end portion, said plurality of bores forming an opening which extends through said bushing,
- said ledge portion being positioned at a preselected location within said bushing to position said marking pin striking end portion a preselected distance from said bushing,
- connecting means engaging one of said bores for releasably connecting said bushing to said marking pin enlarged head end portion, and
- a spacing element positioned in one of said bushing bores between said marking pin enlarged head end portion and said connecting means to maintain said marking pin enlarged head end portion in abutting relation with said ledge portion to increase the distance between said marking pin striking end portion and said bushing.
