Claims
- 1. A device for making at least one mark comprising:
a length of tape having at least one hole disposed along said length at a predetermined location; a line disposed along said length such that at least a portion of said line spans said at least one hole; and a marking medium attached to said line.
- 2. The device of claim 1 wherein said line is attached to a free end of said length of tape.
- 3. The device of claim 1 wherein said length of tape comprises indicia at chosen locations.
- 4. The device of claim 1 further comprising:
a tape tip attached to a free end of said tape; and a line tip attached to a free end of said line, such that said line tip removably engages said tape tip.
- 5. The device of claim 1 further comprising:
a tape reel for holding at least a portion of said length of tape when said length of tape is stored; and a line reel for holding at least a portion of said line when said line is stored.
- 6. The device of claim 5 further comprising a spring retraction mechanism adapted to wind said length of tape onto said tape reel.
- 7. The device of claim 5 further comprising a lock mechanism adapted to lock said length of tape at a chosen location.
- 8. The device of claim 5 further comprising a crank handle engaged to said line reel adapted to retract said line onto said line reel when said crank handle is actuated.
- 9. The device of claim 8 wherein said crank handle is further adapted to retract said tape onto said tape reel when said crank handle is actuated.
- 10. The device of claim 1 further comprising a chalk reservoir adapted to dispense chalk onto said line.
- 11. The device of claim 1 further comprising an ink reservoir adapted to dispense ink onto said line.
- 12. The device of claim 1 wherein said tape reel and said line reel are mounted to a body.
- 13. The device of claim 1 having a tape compartment comprising said tape reel and a line compartment comprising said line reel wherein said tape compartment and said line compartment are separable.
- 14. A device for marking a plurality of marks comprising:
means for masking having a plurality of holes disposed along the length of said means for masking at predetermined intervals; and means for dispensing a marking medium disposed along the length of said means for masking and further positioned such that at least a portion of said marking medium passes through said plurality of said holes.
- 15. The device of claim 14 wherein said means for masking comprises a free end and means for dispensing is attached to said free end of said means for masking.
- 16. The device of claim 14 wherein said means for masking comprises indicia at chosen locations.
- 17. The device of claim 14 wherein said means for masking comprises a free end and said means for dispensing comprises a line tip, said line tip adapted to removably engage said free end of said means for masking.
- 18. The device of claim 14 further comprising:
first means for storing at least a portion of said means for masking; and second means for storing at least a portion of said means for dispensing.
- 19. The device of claim 18 further comprising a spring retraction mechanism adapted to retract said means for masking onto said first means for storing.
- 20. The device of claim 18 further comprising a lock mechanism adapted to lock said means for masking.
- 21. The device of claim 18 further comprising a crank handle engaged to said second means for storing adapted to retract said means for dispensing onto said second means for storing when said crank handle is actuated.
- 22. The device of claim 21 wherein said crank handle is further adapted to retract said means for masking onto said first means for storing when said crank handle is actuated.
- 23. The device of claim 14 further comprising a means for dispensing chalk onto said means for dispensing.
- 24. The device of claim 14 further comprising a means for dispensing ink onto said means for dispensing.
- 25. The device of claim 14 having a first compartment comprising first means for storing and a second compartment comprising said second means for storing wherein said first compartment and said second compartment are separable.
- 26. A method for making at least one mark on a surface comprising:
extending a tape having at least one hole over said surface; spanning said at least one hole with a marking line having a marking medium; withdrawing said marking line from said tape; allowing said marking line to snap onto said tape such that at least some of said marking medium passes through said at least one hole onto said surface.
- 27. The method of claim 26 wherein said tape comprises indicia at chosen locations.
- 28. The method of claim 26 further comprising:
securing a free end of said tape using a tape tip; and securing a free end of said marking line using a line tip.
- 29. The method of claim 28 wherein said line tip is adapted to removably engage said tape tip.
- 30. The method of claim 26 further comprising winding at least a portion of said tape onto a tape reel, said tape reel being connected to a spring retraction mechanism adapted to retract said tape onto said tape reel.
- 31. The method of claim 26 further comprising locking said tape with a lock mechanism.
- 32. The method of claim 26 further comprising actuating a crank handle to retract said line onto a line reel.
- 33. The method of claim 32 wherein said crank handle is further adapted to retract said tape onto a tape reel.
- 34. The method of claim 26 further comprising dispensing said marking medium onto said line using a reservoir.
- 35. The method of claim 26 wherein said marking medium is chalk.
- 36. The method of claim 26 wherein said marking medium is ink.
