The present disclosure relates generally to the field of makeup and more particularly to a disposable mascara shield.
A mascara shield protects surrounding areas of the eyes during application of mascara. The mascara shield protects from mascara and cosmetic fallout or overspill. Mascara shields may include hard materials such as plastic that is designed for multiple uses. Mascara and cosmetic shielding technologies like hard hand-held, non-disposable shielding devices may be unhygienic and or irritating to the skin of users, leaving many who would need this technology preferring to opt out due to irritation or potential injury. Current cosmetic shielding technologies can be bulky and cumbersome to use.
Using hard materials such as plastic for a mascara shield prevents the user from adjusting the portion that fits over the eyelid. This is less than ideal because a one size fits all mascara shield may not be optimal for some users.
There is a need in the art for a more environmentally friendly mascara shield that is adjustable to fit various users.
The present disclosure provides a handheld, disposable, sanitary mascara cosmetic shield that may be used to assist in applying mascara or other cosmetics to the eyelash areas without fallout or overspill to surrounding areas. Also, the mascara shield is made of a paper material with sufficient strength so that back surface allows a user to shape lashes against the mascara shield when applying mascara or other cosmetics, while being soft enough to not cause injury to the delicate eye area. Additionally, the paper material is sufficiently pliable to bend in order to adjust for different shaped eyelids.
In one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, a disposable mascara shield is provided including a flexible material including a top portion and a double rounded bottom portion adjacent to the top portion. The top portion and the double rounded bottom portion being connected by two curved edges to form a boundary of the disposable mascara shield, wherein the double rounded bottom portion forms a concave shape to fit over a user's eyelid.
Further features of the present disclosure will in part be understandable and will in part be apparent from the following description and with reference to the attached drawings.
For the purposes of illustrating various aspects of the disclosure, wherein like numerals indicate like elements, there are shown in the drawings simplified forms that may be employed, it being understood, however, that the disclosure is not limited by or to the precise arrangements and instrumentalities shown. To assist those of ordinary skill in the relevant art in making and using the subject matter hereof, reference is made to the appended drawings and figures, wherein:

It is also preferable that the mascara shield 10 made from paper material have a sufficient thickness such that when the mascara shield 10 is pressed against the user's eyelid the back surface is strong enough to maintain its shape to allow for the user to apply mascara to the user's eyelashes. The thickness of the paper material for the disposable mascara shield 10 is preferably within a range of 0.45 mm to 0.60 mm. This range of thickness enables the mascara shield 10 to be pressed against the user's eyelid and maintain its shape while also being sufficiently pliable to adjust the double rounded bottom portion 14 to adjust for comfort to a particular user's contours around the eyelid area.

In order to make the disposable mascara shield/scraper, one cuts a template of flexible material into a shape that conforms to the contours of the eyelid area where the eyelashes meet the eyelid. The template includes an edge that when held behind the eyelash area on the eyelid, the disposable mascara shield screens adjacent skin surface areas.
