The first edge 36 of each of the doors 34 is hingedly coupled to a respective one of the upper bounding edge 30 and the lower bounding edge 32. Each of the doors 34 is positionable in a closed position having each of the doors 34 lying on a horizontal plane in the dispensing slot 16. Each of the doors 34 is positionable in an open position having each of the doors 34 extending forwardly from the dispensing slot 16.
A cover 38 is removably attachable to the housing 12, and the cover 38 is positionable on the back side 28 of the outer wall 24 to close the back side 28. As is most clearly shown in
A lifting unit 44 is positioned within the housing 12 and the stack of disposable face masks 18 is positioned on the lifting unit 44. The lifting unit 44 is actuated to incrementally lift upwardly in the housing 12 thereby lifting the stack of disposable face masks 18 in the housing 12. In this way a topmost one of the stack of disposable face masks 46 is aligned with the dispensing slot 16. The lifting unit 44 comprises a control circuit 48 that is positioned in the housing 12. The control circuit 48 receives a lift input and a refill input. The control circuit 48 is electrically coupled to a power source 50 comprising an electrical system of the public transportation vehicle 14.
The lifting unit 44 includes a receiver 52 that is positioned in the housing 12 and the receiver 52 is electrically coupled to the control circuit 48. The control circuit 48 receives the lift input when the receiver 52 receives a lift signal, and the control circuit 48 receives the refill input when the receiver 52 receives a refill signal. The receiver 52 may comprise a radio frequency receiver or the like. A lifting motor 54 is coupled to a top surface 56 of the bottom wall 20 of the housing 12 such that the lifting motor 54 is positioned within the housing 12.
The lifting motor 54 is electrically coupled to the control circuit 48 and the lifting motor 54 is actuated to rotate in a first direction when the control circuit 48 receives the lift input. Additionally, the lifting motor 54 turns a predetermined number of revolutions each time the control circuit 48 receives the lift input. The lifting motor 54 is actuated to rotate in a second direction when the control circuit 48 receives the refill input. The lifting motor 54 may comprise an electric motor or the like.
The lifting unit 44 includes a screw 58 that is rotatably coupled to the lifting motor 54 such that the screw 58 rotates in a first direction when the lifting motor 54 is rotates in the first direction. The screw 58 rotates in a second direction when the lifting motor 54 rotates in the second direction. The lifting unit 44 includes a tube 60 that that has a first end 62, a second end 64 and an interior surface 66. The first end 62 is open and the interior surface 66 is threaded. Moreover, the first end 62 insertably receives the screw 58 and the screw 58 threadably engages the interior surface 66. In this way the tube 60 is lifted upwardly each time the screw 58 rotates in the first direction and the tube 60 is fully lowered onto the screw 58 when the screw 58 rotates in the second direction.
The lifting unit 44 includes a plate 68 that has a lower surface 70 and a top surface 72. The lower surface 70 is coupled to the second end 64 of the tube 60 and the stack of disposable face masks 18 is positioned on the top surface 72. The plate 68 is lifted toward the top wall 22 of the housing 12 when the screw 58 is rotated in the first direction. The plate 68 is lowered toward the lifting motor 54 when the screw 58 is rotated in the second direction.
A dispenser 74 is positioned in the housing 12 and the dispenser 74 engages the topmost one of the stack of disposable face masks 46. The dispenser 74 is aligned with the dispensing slot 16 to urge the topmost one of the stack of disposable face masks 46 outwardly through the dispensing slot 16. The dispenser 74 comprises a dispensing wheel 76 that is rotatably integrated into the housing 12. The dispensing wheel 76 is aligned with the dispensing slot 16 to frictionally engage the topmost one of the stack of disposable face masks 46. In this way the dispensing wheel 76 can urge the topmost one of the stack of disposable face masks 46 outwardly through the dispensing slot 16. The dispensing wheel 76 has an outer surface 78 and the outer surface 78 is rotated about a center point of the dispensing wheel 76 when the dispensing wheel 76 is rotated. In this way a bottom side 80 of the dispensing wheel 76 travels toward the dispensing slot 16 when the dispensing wheel 76 is rotated.
The dispenser 74 includes a dispensing motor 82 that is positioned in the housing 12. The dispensing motor 82 rotatably engages the dispensing wheel 76 and the dispensing motor 82 is electrically coupled to the control circuit 48. The dispensing motor 82 is turned on to rotate a predetermined number of rotations when the control circuit 48 receives the lift input. The dispensing motor 82 may comprise an electric motor or the like.
A switch 84 is positioned in the public transportation vehicle 14 such that the switch 84 is accessible to a driver of the public transportation vehicle 14. The switch 84 is in communication with the lifting unit 44 in the housing 12 and the dispenser 74. The lifting unit 44 is actuated when the switch 84 is depressed to facilitate the driver to dispense a disposable face mask 18 for a passenger to wear. The switch 84 is electrically coupled to a power source 50 comprising the electrical system of the public transportation vehicle 14. Additionally, the switch 84 is positionable in a lifting position or a refill position, and the switch 84 is biased into an off position.
A transmitter 86 is integrated into the switch 84 and the transmitter 86 is electrically coupled to the switch 84. Additionally, the transmitter 86 is in wireless communication with the receiver 52 in the lifting unit 44. The transmitter 86 broadcasts the lift signal when the switch 84 is positioned in the lifting position and the transmitter 86 broadcasts the refill signal when the switch 84 is positioned in the refill position. The transmitter 86 may comprise a radio frequency transmitter or the like.
In use, the driver depresses the switch 84 into the lifting position to dispense a disposable mask from the housing 12. In this way a passenger can be supplied a disposable face mask 18 when the passenger is boarding the public transportation vehicle 14 without a face mask. The disposable face mask 18 urges each of the doors 34 into the open position as the disposable face mask 18 is dispensed from the dispensing slot 16. The driver depresses the switch 84 into the refill position when the housing 12 is depleted of the disposable face masks 18. In this way housing 12 can be refilled with a stack of the disposable face masks 18.
