Claims
- 1. A method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium with a master information recorded thereon, comprising:contacting a surface of a master information carrier with a surface of a magnetic record medium having a ferromagnetic film or a ferromagnetic coating, wherein the master information carrier comprises a substrate and an embossed pattern of a ferromagnetic material provided on the surface of the substrate, the embossed pattern having an upper surface and a bottom, the distance between the upper surface of the embossed pattern and the bottom of the embossed pattern being more than 0.05 microns, and the pattern corresponding to an arrangement of the master information signal, and wherein the magnetic record medium has a coercive force more than 150 kA/m; sucking air between the master information carrier and the magnetic record medium; and applying a direct exciting field whose intensity is as large as, or below the coercive force of the magnetic record medium to the master information carrier so that the ferromagnetic material of the master information carrier reaches substantial magnetic saturation, thereby magnetically transferring the master information signal into the magnetic record medium as a magnetization pattern from the ferromagnetic material of the master information carrier.
- 2. The method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium according to claim 1, further comprising:erasing a magnetization of a magnetic record medium having a ferromagnetic film or a ferromagnetic coating with a direct magnetic field before contacting the surface of the master information carrier with the surface of the magnetic record medium.
- 3. The method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium according to claim 1, wherein during the process of writing the master information signal into the magnetic record medium as the magnetization pattern, an alternating bias magnetic field is applied.
- 4. The method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium according to claim 3, wherein the maximum amplitude of the alternating bias magnetic field is larger than the coercive force of the ferromagnetic material of the master information carrier.
- 5. The method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium according to claim 1, wherein the ferromagnetic material of the master information carrier is a soft magnetic material.
- 6. The method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium according to claim 1, wherein the substrate of the master information carrier is made of the ferromagnetic material and the surface of the substrate has an embossed pattern corresponding to the pattern of the master information signal.
- 7. A hard disc drive comprising a disc type magnetic record medium having a ferromagnetic film or a ferromagnetic coating, wherein the ferromagnetic film or the ferromagnetic coating has a magnetization pattern of preformat recording magnetically transferred by a method of manufacturing a magnetic record medium with a master information recorded thereon, comprising:contacting a surface of a master information carrier with a surface of a magnetic record medium having a ferromagnetic film or a ferromagnetic coating, wherein the master information carrier comprises a substrate and an embossed pattern of a ferromagnetic material provided on the surface of the substrate, the embossed pattern having an upper surface and a bottom, the distance between the upper surface of the embossed pattern and the bottom of the embossed pattern being more than 0.05 microns, and the pattern corresponding to an arrangement of the master information signal, and wherein the magnetic record medium has a coercive force more than 150 kA/m; sucking air between the master information carrier and the magnetic record medium; and applying a direct exciting field whose intensity is as large as, or below the coercive force of the magnetic record medium to the master information carrier so that the ferromagnetic material of the master information carrier reaches substantial magnetic saturation, thereby magnetically transferring the master information signal into the magnetic record medium as a magnetization pattern from the ferromagnetic material of the master information carrier.
- 8. A master information carrier which is put into contact with a surface of a ferromagnetic film or a ferromagnetic coating of a magnetic record medium so as to record a magnetization pattern of a master information signal including at least one of a servo signal, an address information signal and a clock signal into the ferromagnetic film or the ferromagnetic coating, the master information carrier comprising:a substrate and an embossed pattern of a ferromagnetic material provided on the surface of the substrate, the embossed pattern having an upper surface and a bottom, wherein the distance between the upper surface of the embossed pattern and the bottom of the embossed pattern is more than 0.05 microns, and the embossed pattern corresponds to an arrangement of the master information signal, and wherein the magnetic record medium has a coercive force more than 150 kA/m.
- 9. A master information carrier according to claim 8, wherein the ferromagnetic material composing the protruding portion of the embossed pattern is a soft magnetic material.
- 10. A master information carrier according to claim 8, wherein the thickness of the ferromagnetic material composing the protruding portion of the embossed pattern is set at adequate value depending on the bit length of the master information signal.
- 11. A master information carrier according to claim 8, wherein the substrate of the master information carrier is made of the ferromagnetic material and the surface of the substrate has the embossed pattern.
