Claims
- 1. A wrapping material supporting assembly for supporting a roll of wrapping material for a machine for wrapping a package comprising,
- a. an elongated rotatably mounted inner supporting mandril,
- b. an elongated hollow outer support shaft slidably mounted on said inner support mandril for longitudinal telescopic movement relative the same and to provide means for mounting a roll of wrapping material thereon,
- c. an inner shoulder formed on said outer support shaft having, a beveled face thereon disposed to engage the inner end of said wrapping material roll,
- d. threaded means connected to one end of said outer support shaft, and
- e. a gripping element fixedly connected to said threaded means including, angled gripping members for engagement and for holding the outer end of the wrapping material roll mounted on said outer support shaft.
- 2. A wrapping material supporting assembly for supporting a roll of wrapping material for use on a machine for wrapping a package comprising,
- a. an elongated rotatably mounted inner supporting mandril,
- b. an elongated outer support member having, a centrally disposed shaft, and a hollow cylindrical shaft connected concentric to the centrally disposed shaft for mounting the roll of wrapping material thereon,
- c. said outer support shaft slidably mounted on said inner support mandril for longitudinal telescopic movement relative the same.
- d. an inner shoulder connected to said outer support member having, an inner gripping element thereon disposed to engage one end of the roll of wrapping material, and
- e. holding assembly means detachably connectible to the end of the outer support member remote from the inner shoulder having, an outer gripping element thereon to engage the other end of the wrapping material roll when the holding assembly means is connected on the outer support member,
- 3. In a wrapping material supporting assembly as claimed in claim 2 including,
- a. groove means extending longitudinally along the inner supporting mandril and having a stop shoulder at one end,
- b. stop assembly means connected on said outer support member including, a bearing means disposed for engagement in said groove means whereby on longitudinal telescopic movement of said outer support member relative said inner supporting mandril the inner shoulder will act as an inner stop and the stop shoulder will act as an outer stop when engaged by said stop assembly means.
- 4. A gripping assembly for a wrapping material supporting assembly including,
- a. a shaft for receiving the wrapping material,
- b. a fixed inner gripping member disposed at one end of said shaft for gripping one end of the wrapping material,
- c. a holding assembly means detachably connectible to the opposite end of the shaft, and
- d. an outer gripping member on said holding assembly to grip and hold the opposite end of the wrapping material when in assembled position on said shaft.
- 5. A gripping assembly as claimed in claim 4 wherein,
- a. said holding assembly means includes an annular member having an undercut flange on one face thereof, and
- b. the outer gripping element is rotatably connected to the undercut flange.
- 6. A gripping element for the gripping assembly used in a wrapping material supporting assembly comprising,
- a. a generally flat annular member having, an outer peripheral edge, and an inner opening forming an inner circumferential edge,
- b. spaced triangular shaped elements projecting from one face of said annular member,
- c. spaced connecting lugs for connecting said gripping element into assembled position on said gripping assembly,
- d. said triangular shaped elements are struck from a position on the outer peripheral edge of the annular member in spaced relation to each other, and
- e. said connecting lugs are also struck from a position on the outer peripheral edge in spaced relation to each other and to the triangularly shaped elements.
