The present invention relates to fitted bedding linens, as well as bed skirts. More specifically, the present invention provides a fitted mattress cover and affixed to a bed skirt with storage pockets on the lateral sides thereof.
Traditional fitted mattress covers envelope the mattress and require that the mattress be lifted for the fitted sheet to be pulled over the edges and tucked underneath. Lifting the mattress can require multiple people to achieve in a safe manner. Additionally, elderly or disabled individuals may not be able to physically lift a mattress to adequately put on the fitted sheet.
Bed skirts, also known as dust ruffles, are used to conceal the area underneath a bed, or to give a decorative aesthetic to the traditional bed setup. It is common for bed skirts to be attached with fasteners to the bed frame. This can be visually displeasing as well as an inconvenience. Therefore, there exists a need for a fitted mattress cover that can be slipped on over a mattress wherein a bed skirt is attached to the mattress cover along the edges thereof.
In light of the devices disclosed in the known art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements from the known art and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement to existing forms of fitted bed sheets and skirts. In this regard, the instant invention substantially fulfills these needs.
In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of fitted mattress covers now present in the prior art, the present invention provides a mattress cover with an affixed bed skirt wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when securing the mattress cover and bed skirt in place.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new fitted mattress cover and bed skirt combination that has all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a fitted mattress cover and bed skirt combination comprising a fitted mattress cover configured to cover the sleeping surface of a mattress and the lateral sides thereof, wherein the fitted mattress cover terminates in an outer edge with a defined channel having a bed skirt attached thereto.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a fitted mattress cover and bed skirt combination wherein one or more pockets are sewn into the lateral sides of the fitted mattress cover toward the head of the mattress.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a fitted mattress cover and bed skirt combination wherein an elastic band on the outside of the channel defined in the outer edge holds the sides of the mattress cover and bed skirt in place.
Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
Although the characteristic features of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims, the invention itself and manner in which it may be made and used may be better understood after a review of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like numeral annotations are provided throughout.
Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the fitted mattress cover and bed skirt combination.
