Abstract

A mattress cover includes a plurality of fire-retardant fibers and a plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers. The plurality of fire-retardant fibers has a first color. The plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers has a second color. The first color is different from the second color.

FIELD

The present invention relates to a mattress cover, and, more particularly, to a mattress including a mattress core covered by the mattress cover.

BACKGROUND

Mattress covers are used to cover a mattress core.

SUMMARY

In some embodiments, a mattress cover includes a plurality of fire-retardant fibers, wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers has a first color; and a plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers, wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers has a second color, wherein the first color is different from the second color.

In some embodiments, the first color is white and the second color is blue. In some embodiments, the second color is navy blue. In some embodiments, the first color is white and the second color is beige. In some embodiments, the first color is white and the second color is tan. In some embodiments, the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers are 1% by weight to 50% by weight of a total weight of the mattress cover, and wherein the fire-retardant fibers are 50% by weight to 99% by weight of the total weight of the mattress cover. In some embodiments, the mattress cover has a weight of 100 gsm to 1,000 gsm. In some embodiments, the plurality of fire-retardant fibers is composed of one or more of a cellulosic yarn, rayon yarn, wool, viscose filament yarn, polyester, polypropylene, fire retardant poly, acrylic, nylon, synthetic bulking yarns, or combinations or blends thereof. In some embodiments, the mattress cover includes a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer between the first layer and the second layer, wherein the second layer is a face layer, wherein the face layer is an outermost layer of the mattress cover. In some embodiments, the face layer includes the plurality of fire-retardant fibers and the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers.

In some embodiments, a mattress includes a core; and a mattress cover, wherein the mattress cover covers at least a portion of the core, wherein the mattress cover includes a plurality of fire-retardant fibers, wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers has a first color; and a plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers, wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers has a second color, and wherein the first color is different from the second color. In some embodiments, the first color is white and the second color is blue. In some embodiments, the second color is navy blue. In some embodiments, the present invention provides a mattress including a mattress core that is covered by a mattress cover including fire-retardant fibers, where the mattress cover is an outermost cover of the mattress. In some embodiments, a surface of the fire-retardant mattress cover is an outermost surface of the mattress.

In some embodiments, the present invention provides a mattress including a mattress core covered by a mattress cover including fire-retardant fibers, where the mattress cover is an outermost cover of the mattress, and the mattress includes no other fire-retardant cover, fabric, or layer between the mattress cover and the mattress core. In some embodiments, the fire-retardant fibers have a first color shade. In some embodiments, the non-fire-retardant fibers have a second color shade. Thus, as described above, in some embodiments, wherein the mattress cover 10 is the outermost cover of the mattress 100, and the outer surface 11 of the mattress cover 10 is the outermost surface of the mattress 100, the mattress 100 includes a fire-retardant and aesthetically pleasing, observable cover. In some embodiments, as shown in FIG. 3, the mattress cover 10 includes a heathered appearance. In some embodiments, the term “heathered” as used herein means a fabric constructed by interweaving pre-dyed yarns or fibers of mixed colors having a muted and stippled shade.

In some embodiments, as shown in the figures, the mattress cover 10 is a single layer. As discussed, in some embodiments, the mattress cover 10 is more than one layer.

In some embodiments, as shown in the Figures, the mattress 100 includes the mattress cover 10 covering the mattress core 50. As discussed, in some embodiments, there may be one or more intervening covers, layers, and/or fabrics between the mattress cover 10 and the mattress core 50.

FIGS. 4 through 6 illustrate some embodiments of a mattress 200 with a mattress cover 210. In some embodiments, the mattress cover 210 has a structure, components, features, composition, and/or function similar to those of the mattress cover 10, except as noted herein.

With reference to the figures, FIG. 4 is an isometric view of a mattress assembly (mattress) 200, including a mattress cover 210 covering a mattress core 250. In some embodiments, FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view, taken along line II-II and looking in the direction of the arrows, of the mattress 200, the cover 210, and the mattress core 250, of FIG. 4. Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, the mattress cover 210 includes at least three layers: a first, back layer 211; a second, face layer 215; and a third, inlay layer (inner layer) 213. In some embodiments, the inlay layer 213 is between the back layer 211 and the face layer 215. In some embodiments, the inlay layer 213 is encapsulated within or between the back layer 211 and the face layer 215. In some embodiments, an outermost surface 222 of the face layer 215 is a sleep surface, namely, the external surface of the mattress 200 that a user sleeps on, disregarding additional separate top of bed and sleep products, such as bed sheets, bed linens, mattress protectors, mattress pads, mattress toppers and pillows.

In some embodiments, the inlay layer 213 is composed of a non-knit material. In some embodiments, the inlay layer 213 is composed of a flame-retardant material. In some embodiments, the inlay layer 213 is composed of a non-knit flame-retardant material. In some embodiments, the inlay layer 213 is composed of an inherently flame-retardant material. In some embodiments, the inherently flame-retardant material is a cellulosic yarn. In some embodiments, the inherently flame-retardant material is a rayon yarn. In some embodiments, the material of the inlay layer includes silicate as a flame-retardant agent.

In some embodiments, the different-colored fibers of the face layer 215 are heathered. In some embodiments, the combination of the different-colored fibers of the face layer 215 provides an aesthetically pleasing pattern on an out surface of the face layer 215 of the mattress cover 210.

In some embodiments, the fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 are a white color. In some embodiments, the fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 are another color.

In some embodiments, the non-fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 are a blue color. In some embodiments, the non-fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 are a navy blue color. In some embodiments, the non-fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 are a beige color. In some embodiments, the non-fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 are a tan color.

In some embodiments, the fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 have a first color contrast. In some embodiments, the non-fire-retardant fibers of the face layer 215 have a second color contrast. In some embodiments, the first color contrast is different than the second color contrast. In some embodiments, the first color contrast is greater than the second color contrast. In some embodiments, the first color contrast is less than the second color contrast. Claims

1. A mattress cover, comprising: a plurality of fire-retardant fibers, wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers has a first color; anda plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers, wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers has a second color,wherein the first color is different from the second color.

2. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the first color is white and the second color is blue.

3. The mattress cover of claim 2, wherein the second color is navy blue.

4. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the first color is white and the second color is beige.

5. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the first color is white and the second color is tan.

6. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers are 1% by weight to 50% by weight of a total weight of the mattress cover, and wherein the fire-retardant fibers are 50% by weight to 99% by weight of the total weight of the mattress cover.

7. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the mattress cover has a weight of 100 gsm to 1,000 gsm.

8. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers is composed of one or more of a cellulosic yarn, rayon yarn, wool, viscose filament yarn, polyester, polypropylene, fire retardant poly, acrylic, nylon, synthetic bulking yarns, or combinations or blends thereof.

9. The mattress cover of claim 1, wherein the mattress cover includes a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer between the first layer and the second layer, wherein the second layer is a face layer, wherein the face layer is an outermost layer of the mattress cover.

10. The mattress cover of claim 9, wherein the face layer includes the plurality of fire-retardant fibers and the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers.

11. A mattress, comprising: a core; anda mattress cover, wherein the mattress cover covers at least a portion of the core,wherein the mattress cover includes a plurality of fire-retardant fibers,wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers has a first color; anda plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers,wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers has a second color, andwherein the first color is different from the second color.

12. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the first color is white and the second color is blue.

13. The mattress of claim 12, wherein the second color is navy blue.

14. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the first color is white and the second color is beige.

15. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the first color is white and the second color is tan.

16. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers are 1% by weight to 50% by weight of a total weight of the mattress cover, and wherein the fire-retardant fibers are 50% by weight to 99% by weight of the total weight of the mattress cover.

17. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the mattress cover has a weight of 100 gsm to 1,000 gsm.

18. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers is composed of one or more of a cellulosic yarn, rayon yarn, wool, viscose filament yarn, polyester, polypropylene, fire retardant poly, acrylic, nylon, synthetic bulking yarns, or combinations or blends thereof.

19. The mattress of claim 11, wherein the mattress cover includes a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer between the first layer and the second layer, wherein the second layer is a face layer, wherein the face layer is an outermost layer of the mattress cover, and wherein the face layer includes the plurality of fire-retardant fibers and the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers.

20. Bedding, comprising: a core; anda cover, wherein the cover covers at least a portion of the core, wherein the cover includes a plurality of fire-retardant fibers,wherein the plurality of fire-retardant fibers has a first color; anda plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers,wherein the plurality of non-fire-retardant fibers has a second color, andwherein the first color is different from the second color.
