Claims
- 1. An apparatus configured to support at least a portion of a body thereon, the apparatus comprising:
a cover having an interior region; a base located within the interior region; and a fiber network located within the interior region above the base, the fiber network material and the base cooperating to provide support for the body, wherein the fiber network is coupled to the cover.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the fiber network is coupled to the cover at a plurality of separate spaced apart locations so that the fiber network is movable relative to the cover.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the cover includes an air permeable surface, the fiber network being located adjacent the surface.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3, further comprising a fan coupled to the cover to provide air circulation through the fiber network and through the surface.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the air permeable surface is a top surface of the cover.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a fire sock and a plastic layer surrounding the base.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a handle coupled to the cover.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the cover includes a bottom surface formed from an anti-skid material.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the base is an air cushion.
- 10. An apparatus configured to support at least a portion of a body thereon, the apparatus comprising:
a cover, a bladder filled with a base material, the bladder being located within the cover, and a fiber network located within the cover, the fiber network including a plurality of resilient members, wherein the fiber network and the bladder cooperate to provide support for the body.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the base material is air.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the base material is water.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the base material includes a plurality of springs.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the base material includes a plurality of beads.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the base material is a gel.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the bladder comprises a plurality of zones, each zone being filled with the base material.
- 17. An apparatus for supporting at least a portion of a body thereon, the apparatus comprising:
a cover having a top surface; a base portion positioned generally below the top surface of the cover; and a fiber network supported by the base portion and positioned generally between the base portion and the top surface of the cover, the fiber network and the base portion cooperating to provide support for the body.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 17, further comprising a source of air configured to force air through the fiber network.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein at least a portion of the top surface is made from a breathable material, the portion of the top surface and the fiber network cooperating to provide cooling for the portion of the body situated on the portion of the top surface.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 19, wherein the air from the source of air is further forced through the portion of the top surface.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the cover includes an air permeable portion to permit air from the source of air to pass through the cover.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the base portion includes at least one bladder configured to be filled with a base material.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the base material is air.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the base material is water.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the base portion includes a plurality of springs.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the base material includes a plurality of beads.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the base material is a gel.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the base portion includes at least one foam member.
- 29. The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the bladder comprises a plurality of zones, each zone being filled with the base material.
- 30. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the cover defines an interior region.
- 31. The apparatus of claim 30, wherein the fiber network is positioned within the interior region of the cover.
- 32. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein the base portion is positioned within the interior region of the cover.
- 33. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the fiber network is a thermoplastic fiber network.
- 34. An apparatus for supporting at least a portion of a body thereon, the apparatus comprising:
a base portion including a plurality of zones, each zone having associated support characteristics, the support characteristics of a first zone differing from the support characteristics of a second zone; at least the first zone having a fiber network supported by the base portion of the first zone, the fiber network being configured to provide air passage therethrough; and a source of air configured to force air through the fiber network.
- 35. The apparatus of claim 34, wherein the first zone corresponds to a foot end of the base portion.
- 36. The apparatus of claim 34, further comprising a cover having a top surface, the fiber network being positioned adjacent to the top surface of the cover.
- 37. The apparatus of claim 36, wherein cover defines an interior region and the fiber network is positioned within the interior region of the cover.
- 38. The apparatus of claim 37, wherein the base portion is positioned within the interior region of the cover.
- 39. The apparatus of claim 34, wherein the source of air is a fan.
- 40. The apparatus of claim 36, wherein at least a portion of the top surface is made from a breathable material, the portion of the top surface and the fiber network cooperating to provide cooling for the body supported on the portion of the top surface.
- 41. The apparatus of claim 40, wherein the air from the source of air is further forced through the portion of the top surface.
- 42. The apparatus of claim 34, wherein the fiber network is a thermoplastic fiber network.
- 43. The apparatus of claim 42, wherein the base portion of the first zone includes a foam member.
- 44. The apparatus of claim 43, wherein the base portion of the first zone further includes an air cushion.
