Claims
- 1. Sampler means for trapping contaminants contained in a gas for later analysis comprising:a sample tube having a cylindrical tubular body member; a solid, gas permeable, contaminant collector material disposed in said tubular body member; a pair of end caps, one disposed at each end of said body member, each said end cap comprising a generally cylindrical cap body that is open at one end and is closed at the other end by a needle-pierceable septum, said cap body having an internal diameter sized to make a sliding fit over the exterior surface of said tubular body member and to provide a gas-tight seal between the interior of said tubular body member and the external atmosphere, each said cap body having a circular notch about its outer surface adjacent to the open end thereof, and a crimp cap disposed about the closed cap end and secured within said notch, said crimp cap having an opening in the center thereof arranged to expose the outside central area of said septum for needle insertion.
- 2. The sampler means of claim 1 wherein said contaminant collector material is an adsorbent that is adapted to trap chemical contaminants.
- 3. The sampler means of claim 1 wherein said contaminant collector material is adapted to trap biological contaminants.
- 4. The sampler means of claim 3 wherein said contaminant collector material is a trapping substance comprising a high efficiency filter.
- 5. The sampler means of claim 3 wherein said contaminant collector material is a biological culture medium.
- 6. The sampler means of claim 1 wherein said cap body has a circular groove cut into its inner surface, said groove sized to hold and seat an O-ring that seals the juncture between said end cap and tubular body member.
- 7. The sampler means of claim 1 wherein said tubular body member has orienting indicia on the outer surface thereof adjacent one end.
- 8. The sampler means of claim 1 wherein the interior surfaces of said end caps comprise a fluorocarbon polymer.
