Claims
- 1. A measuring transducer comprising:
at least one sensor converting a detected measured value into an electrical sensor signal; a signal processor processing the electrical sensor signal and generating a measuring signal; and a simulator generating a simulated measuring signal, wherein the simulated measuring signal is a time-dependent variable.
- 2. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
a data interface transmitting either the measuring signal or the simulated measuring signal to a plant communication system upon receiving a request from the plant communication system, and receiving parameterizing signals from the plant communication system for parameterizing the measuring transducer.
- 3. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 2, wherein the simulated measuring signal is processed by at least a portion of the signal processor prior to the simulated measuring signal being transmitted by the data interface.
- 4. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 2, further comprising:
a switch providing either the measuring signal or the simulated measuring signal to the plant communication system via the data interface, the switch being controlled by switch control signals sent from the plant communication system.
- 5. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the simulator comprises a simulated measuring value memory operable to store a simulated measuring value.
- 6. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the simulator comprises:
a plurality of simulated measuring value memories each operable to store a respective simulated measuring value; and a memory selector selecting one of the simulated measuring value memories.
- 7. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 6, further comprising:
a data interface receiving memory control signals from a plant communication system to control the memory selector and transmitting the respective simulated measuring value stored in the selected simulated measuring value memory.
- 8. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 5, wherein the simulator further comprises:
at least one function generator performing a time-dependent function on the simulated measuring value.
- 9. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 5 further comprising:
a plurality of function generators performing respective time-dependent functions on the simulated measuring value; and a function selector selecting one of the function generators.
- 10. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 9, further comprising:
a data interface connecting the function selector to a plant communication system, wherein the function selector is controlled via function control signals received via the data interface.
- 11. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 6, wherein the simulator further comprises:
at least one function generator performing a time-dependent function on at least one of the simulated measuring values; and a function selector connecting the selected simulated measuring value memory to any one of the function generators.
- 12. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 11, further comprising:
a data interface connecting the function selector to a plant communication system, wherein the function selector receives at least one control signal via the data interface.
- 13. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the simulator comprises a simulated measuring signal memory operable to store a simulated measuring value sequence forming the simulated measuring signal, and
wherein, further, the simulated measuring value sequence represents a sequence of simulated measuring values in accordance with a particular system condition.
- 14. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the simulator comprises a plurality of simulated measuring signal memories operable to store respective simulated measuring value sequences forming, respectively, the simulated measuring signal,
wherein the respective simulated measuring value sequences represent respective sequences of simulated measuring values in accordance with a corresponding number of system conditions.
- 15. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 14, wherein the respective simulated measuring value sequences are provided to the simulated measuring signal memories via the data interface.
- 16. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 5, further comprising:
a data interface connecting the simulated measuring value memory to the plant communication system, wherein the simulated measuring value is transmitted via the data interface to the simulated measuring value memory for storage.
- 17. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 13, further comprising:
a data interface connecting the simulated measuring value memory to a plant communication system, wherein the simulated measuring value sequence is transmitted via the data interface to the simulated measuring signal memory for storage.
- 18. A measuring transducer comprising:
a sensor means for converting a detected measured value into an electrical sensor signal; a processor means for processing the electrical sensor signal and for generating a measuring signal; a simulator means for generating a simulated measuring signal; and an interface means for transmitting the simulated measuring signal or the measuring signal to a plant communication system.
- 19. A measuring transducer as claimed in claim 18, wherein the plant communication system sends control signals to the measuring transducer via the interface means.
- 20. A method of obtaining sensor signals in a plant, the method comprising:
in a measuring transducer, converting a detected measured value into an electrical sensor signal; in the measuring transducer, processing the electrical sensor signal and generating a measuring signal; in the measuring transducer, generating a simulated measuring signal; and transmitting the measuring signal or the simulated measuring signal to a plant communication system.
- 21. A method as claimed in claim 20, further comprising:
transmitting control signals from the plant communication system to a data interface in the measuring transducer; controlling the generation of the simulated measuring signal using the control signals sent from the plant communication system; and receiving a request for data via the data interface, wherein the transmission of either the measuring signal or the simulated measuring signal to the plant communication system is performed upon receipt of the request for data.
- 22. A method as claimed in claim 21, wherein the control signals are generated in a master computer that controls the entire plant and is attached to said plant communication system.
- 23. A method as claimed in claim 21, further comprising:
providing a master computer that controls the entire plant and is attached to said plant communication system, wherein the control signals are generated in a portable computer that is also attached to said plant communication system.
