Iranian National Science Foundation (INSF) sponsors the present invention.
This invention relates to a system for presenting individuals to public. More particularly, when honoring the winners in sporting for example in the Olympics.
A podium is an elevated stage or platform. It is raised to some feet higher than the surroundings. Podiums are used for public speakers, musicians, and performers etc to display their talent and enthrall the who come to see them perform. Since the performers are the ones who entertain or motivate the are ‘raised’ to an elevated stand so that they appear distinctive and singular from the audience.
The word ‘podium’ is frequently used in sports, especially when honoring the winners in sporting obvious example is the Olympics, where in a three level podium comes into play. The highest the center belongs to the gold medalist; the one to the right is a lower elevation to the left of the gold medalist is the lowest platform among the winners and this is for the bronze medalist. The winners climb aboard the steps to go to the podium and collect their medals.
The IOC president suggested the organizers to create an elevated platform so that could feel and sport stars feel special and take pride in their achievements. Metaphorically speaking, he took stand about why the sports winners should stand on the podium. His opinion was finally respected and the winners were called upon to the podium to collect their medals. Until then, the kings and queens stood above the winners and gave the awards and medals.
There is another usage of the term podium which low wall used as a foundation to separate the seats from the arena in an amphitheater. In a classroom teacher's desk serves as a podium raising the “status” of the teacher's desk above the level of the desk. Thus the phrase “behind the podium” is wrongly used because a speaker or a performer can only when he or she stands upon a podium not behind it!
However, in all podiums the individuals must bow to receive their medals.
According to one aspect of the present invention a system is provided in which the champions don't need to bow to receive their medals.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a rotary podium, and an electronic control device mounted inside the stage and adapted to rotate the podium.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a rotary podium, and an electronic control device mounted inside the stage and adapted to rotate and raise the podium.
The preferred embodiment of the invention, illustrative of the best mode in which applicant has contemplated applying the principles, is set forth in the following description and is shown in the drawings and is particularly and distinctly pointed out and set forth in the appended claims.
The podium of the present invention is indicated generally in
First the three champions stand on the floor level. As the National anthem starts to play the mechanical device raises the winners rotationally enabling the audience to see the champions at a proportional speed such that the first one rises faster than the second one and the second one rises faster than the third one. (All of these happen when the National anthem is continuing to play). When the music is finished the stands stop at their proper level.
During the ceremony the cameras are connected to Internet and CD recorder and the whole event is broadcasted internationally. An Audio Visual system records the event on a video CD.
After the champions receive their awards they get a video CD from the ceremony as a gift, another copy is given to the country to which the champions belongs to. This can be done on a videocassette as well.
Accordingly, the improved system provides an effective, safe, inexpensive, and efficient device, which achieves all the enumerated objectives, provides for eliminating difficulties encountered with prior devices, and solves problems and obtains new results in the art.
In the foregoing description, certain terms have been used for brevity, clearness and understanding; but no unnecessary limitations are to be implied therefrom beyond the requirement of the prior art, because such terms are used for descriptive purposes and are intended to be broadly construed.
Moreover, the description and illustration of the invention is by way of example, and the scope of the invention is not limited to the exact details shown or described.
Having now described the features, discoveries and principles of the invention, the manner in which the improved podium is constructed and used, the characteristics of the construction, and the advantageous, new and useful results obtained; the new and useful structures, devices, elements, arrangements, part and combinations, are set forth in the appended claims.
