Claims
- 1. A method for implanting a medical prosthesis comprising a tubular sleeve, the method comprising:
providing at least one strap which is elastically deformable between a first relaxed position in which it has an opened section ring shape showing a ring opening having a predetermined width, and a second constrained position in which said ring opening width is enlarged; introducing the medical prosthesis into a duct of a living body, the duct having a duct wall; radially expanding the medical prosthesis in said duct; introducing said at least one strap into the living body, said at least one strap having in said living body its second constrained position; and allowing said at least one strap to deform from the second constrained position toward the first relaxed position, while disposing said at least one strap around the duct wall, so that said at least one strap which is externally facing the medical prosthesis closes up toward the duct.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of providing at least one strap further comprises the step of:
adapting the ring opening of said at least one strap in said first relaxed position thereof for having the duct wall tightened by said at least one strap in the first relaxed position, when said at least one strap is disposed around the duct.
- 3. The method according to claim 2, further comprising the steps of:
introducing fastening means in the living body, for fastening said at least one strap; and securing said at least one strap around the duct by using said fastening means.
- 4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the step of securing further comprises passing the fastening means through said at least one strap and the duct of the medical prosthesis, so that said at least one strap, the duct and the medical prosthesis are fastened all together.
- 5. The method according to claim 4, wherein the step of passing the fastening means through the duct wall, said at least one strap and the medical prosthesis comprises the steps of:
introducing at least one surgical staple into the living body and passing said at least one staple through the duct wall, said at least one strap and the medical prosthesis; and crimping said at least one staple to tighten said at least one strap, the duct wall and the medical prosthesis all together.
- 6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the step of passing the fastening means through the duct wall, said at least one strap and the medical prosthesis further comprises the step of:
surgically suturing the tubular sleeve of the medical prosthesis, said at least one strap and the duct wall all together.
- 7. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of providing said at least one strap further comprises the steps of:
providing a strap having a length, first and second free ends and divisible extensions at said first and second free ends, said at least one strap being longer than a perimeter of the duct; and cutting the divisible extensions to adapt the length of said at least one strap as a function of said perimeter.
- 8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the step of disposing said at least one strap around the duct wall further comprises the steps of:
providing a strap having a length, first and second free ends and divisible extensions at said first and second free ends, said at least one strap being longer than the perimeter of the duct; and cutting the divisible extensions to adapt the length of said at least one strap as a function of said perimeter.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of introducing the medical prosthesis comprises the further step of:
endoluminally inserting the medical prosthesis into the duct, the medical prosthesis having an axis and a length along said axis, so that the medical prosthesis is internally lining the duct along its length.
- 10. A method for implanting a medical prosthesis comprising a tubular sleeve, the method comprising:
providing at least one naturally curved strap comprising a structure which is deformable between a first position in which it has an opened section ring shape showing a ring opening having a predetermined width and a second position in which said ring opening width is enlarged; introducing the medical prosthesis into a duct of a living body, the duct having a duct wall; radially expanding the medical prosthesis into said duct; introducing said at least one strap into the living body, said at least one strap having in said living body a second constrained position; allowing said at least one strap to deform from the second position toward the first position, while disposing said at least one strap around the duct wall, so that said at least one strap, which is externally facing the medical prosthesis, naturally closes up toward the duct.
- 11. The method of claim 10, wherein the step of introducing the medical prosthesis further comprises the step of:
endoluminally inserting the medical prosthesis into the duct, the medical prosthesis having an axis and a length along said axis, so that the medical prosthesis is internally lining the duct along its length.
