Claims
- 1. A metal ion coordination complex of the formula: ##STR16## in which n represents 2; M represents a metal ion having at least two oxidation states in which it forms stable coordination complexes selected from the group consisting of ions of Co, Rh, Pt, Cr, Cu, Re, Mo, W, Ni, V and Fe; X represents .tbd.C--CH.sub.3 ; and Y represents .tbd.N or .tbd.C--R"' wherein R"' represents hydrogen, halogen, nitro, nitroso, amino, hydroxy or alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
- 2. A metal ion coordination complex having the formula: ##STR17## in which n represents 2; M represents a cobalt ion; X and Y each represent .tbd.C--NO.sub.2, .tbd.C--NH.sub.2, .tbd.C--Cl or .tbd.C--H, or X represents .tbd.C--CH.sub.3 and Y represent .tbd.C--H.
- 3. A metal ion coordination complex of the formula: ##STR18## in which n represents 2; M is Pt, and X and Y each represent .tbd.C--NO.sub.2.
- 4. A process for the preparation of a complex according to claim 1 wherein X represents .tbd.C--CH.sub.3, which comprises the steps of reacting a metal chelate of 1,9-diamino-5-(methyl)-5-(4-amino-2-azabutyl)-3,7-diazanonane of the formula: ##STR19## in which M is as defined in claim 1, with formaldehyde and a nucleophile capable of yielding a capping group of the formula .tbd.N or .tbd.C--R.sup.4, wherein R.sup.4 is NO.sub.2.
