The disclosure relates to game devices and more particularly pertains to a new game device for simulating use of a metal detector for finding rewards within a game structure.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a game board having a top surface and a plurality of apertures extending into the top surface. A game piece resembling a metal detector comprises a handle and a magnet. Each of a plurality of pegs is insertable into a selectable one of the apertures wherein viewing of a bottom portion of a shaft section of the respective peg is obscured by the game board. A head section of each peg is magnetically attracted to the magnet wherein each peg is removable from the game board to expose the bottom portion of the shaft section. Respective scoring indicia is positioned on the bottom portion of the shaft section of each peg indicative of a reward level.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A game piece 26 comprises a handle 28 and a magnet 30 coupled to a lower end 32 of the handle 28 such that the game piece 26 is configured to resemble a metal detector. Each of a plurality of pegs 34 has a head section 36 and a shaft section 38 insertable into a selectable one of the apertures 16 wherein viewing of a bottom portion 40 of the shaft section 38 is obscured by the game board 12. The bottom portion 40 of each peg 34 is positioned below the bottom surface 20 of the game board 12 when the peg 34 is fully inserted through the game board 12. The head section 36 of each peg 34 is magnetically attracted to the magnet 30 wherein each peg 34 is removable from the game board 12 by engaging the magnet 30 to the head section 36 and lifting the peg 34 to expose the bottom portion 40 of the shaft section 38 while the magnet 30 remains engaged to the head section 36. The head section 36 of each peg 34 may have a conoid upper surface 42 and a planar lower edge 44. The head section 36 of each peg 34 rests against the top surface 14 of the game board 12 when the peg 34 is fully inserted into the game board 12 through one of the apertures 16. The head section 36 overlaps the aperture 16 to inhibit viewing of the shaft section 38 through the aperture 16 until the peg 34 is lifted from the game board 12.
Respective scoring indicia 46 is positioned on the bottom portion 40 of the shaft section 38 of each peg 34. The scoring indicia 46 is indicative of a reward level which may be related to a point scheme, money scheme, or other system to simulate finding of items having varied value and facilitating tracking a score for individual players of the game. The scoring indicia 46 comprises a plurality of colors. Each color is positioned on an associated bottom portion 40 of the shaft section 38 of each peg 34 and an associated reward, point level, monetary amount, or the like, may be awarded upon revelation of the particular color as each peg 34 is selected by a player and lifted by the magnet 30.
Each of a plurality of scenery pieces 50 may be provided. The scenery pieces 50 may comprise trees 52, building structures 54, street lights 56, benches 58, or the like. Each of the scenery pieces 50 is coupled to the top surface 14 of the game board 12 wherein the game board 12 is configured to resemble a landscape. Additional landscape indicia may be positioned on the top surface 14 of the game board 12 to enhance the presentation of the landscape.
In use, the pegs 34 are randomly distributed and inserted into the apertures 16 in the game board 12 such that the scoring indicia 46 is not visible. Players take turns using the game piece 26 to position the magnet 30 over a selected peg 34. The head section 36 of the selected peg 34 is engaged by the magnet 30 allowing the selected peg 34 to be lifted revealing the scoring indicia 46. A score may be tracked on a score sheet 48 as shown in
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
