Claims
- 1. A metallic gasket assembly comprising, in combination, a ring-shaped main gasket body having a predetermined thickness, said main gasket body defining an insert opening in its outer periphery having circumferentially spaced edges, and a metallic insert having a portion positioned within said insert opening, at least one embossment formed in said insert portion, said insert portion having edges positioned tightly against said circumferentially spaced insert opening edges whereby said metallic insert is secured to said main gasket body and said metallic insert further having a portion projecting past a side of said main gasket body.
- 2. A metallic gasket assembly, according to claim 1, wherein said embossment in said insert portion is spaced from one of said insert portion edges, and wherein said insert has a cut between said insert portion and said projecting portion extending from said one edge to said embossment.
- 3. A metallic gasket assembly, according to claim 1, wherein said at least one embossment comprises two embossments spaced respectively from said insert portion edges, and wherein said insert has two cuts between said insert portion and said projecting portion extending from each of said insert portion edges to the adjacent spaced embossment.
- 4. A metallic gasket assembly according to claim 1, wherein said insert portion is complementary with said insert opening and wherein said insert projecting portion extends generally perpendicular to the plane of said ring-shaped main gasket body.
- 5. A metallic gasket assembly according to claim 4, wherein said at least one embossment includes two spaced embossments on said insert portion.
