Claims
- 1. A pattern die for use in a system to dispense liquid material onto a moving substrate, comprising:a pair of outer liquid material outlets and a plurality of inner liquid material outlets therebetween spaced along a common axis at one end thereof for dispensing a plurality of strands of liquid material toward the substrate, a pair of air outlets associated with each of said inner liquid material outlets, and a single air outlet associated with each of said outer liquid material outlets for emitting pressurized air operable to oscillate the dispensed strands in directions predominantly parallel with the common axis during flight toward the substrate and forming an overlapping pattern of liquid material on the moving substrate.
- 2. The pattern die of claim 1 further comprising a first plurality of elongated bores spaced along the common axis, and a second plurality of elongated bores in registry with and intersecting said first plurality of elongated bores.
- 3. The pattern die of claim 2 further comprising a plurality of tubular nozzle inserts received in said first plurality of elongated bores that each defines a respective one of said inner and outer liquid material outlets.
- 4. The pattern die of claim 3, wherein said second plurality of elongated bores defines, in combination with a wall of a respective one of said tubular nozzle inserts, a respective pair of said air outlets associated with each of said inner liquid material outlets.
- 5. The pattern die of claim 3, wherein said second plurality of elongated bores defines, in combination with a wall of a respective one of said tubular nozzle inserts, a respective one of said single air outlets associated with each of said outer liquid material outlets.
