Claims
- 1. An apparatus for crimping a fitting, comprising:
at least two crimping members closable by an actuator; means for pivotably coupling the crimping members together; and means for adjusting the pivotable coupling to provide adjustable closure between the crimping members.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for adjusting the pivotable coupling comprises means for adjustably locking a pin in an elongated slot of one of the crimping member.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for adjusting the pivotable coupling comprises means for adjustably threading a connection to one of the crimping members.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for adjusting the pivotable coupling comprises means for adjustably linking separate pivotable connections between the crimping member.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for adjusting the pivotable coupling comprises means for adjustably locking first and second eccentric portions of a pin to the crimping members.
- 6. An apparatus for crimping a fitting, comprising:
at least two crimping members pivotably coupled together and closable by an actuator, the crimping members each having a portion moveable relative each other; and means positioned between the portions for substantially stopping the closure of the crimping members at a predetermined position.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the means positioned between the portions for substantially stopping the closure of the crimping members at the predetermined position comprises means for electronically sensing the predetermined position of closure between the portions.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the means positioned between the portions for substantially stopping the closure of the crimping members at the predetermined position comprises means for mechanically adjusting the predetermined position.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the portions comprise free ends of the crimping members.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the portions comprise pivotably connected ends of the crimping members.
- 11. An apparatus for crimping a fitting, comprising:
at least two crimping members pivotably coupled together and closable by an actuator, the crimping members each having a portion moveable relative each other; and an adjustable stop positioned between the portions and preventing closure of the crimping members at a predetermined position.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the adjustable stop comprises an electronic. sensor indicating closure of the crimping members at the predetermined position.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the portions of the crimping members include free ends of the crimping members.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the portions of the crimping members include pivotably connected ends of the crimping members.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the adjustable stop comprises at least one of an adjustable shim, a screw, a machined surface, a shoulder, a tab, a head, a boss, a stud, and a nut.
- 16. An apparatus for crimping a fitting, comprising:
at least two crimping members having substantially identical ends, the crimping members arranged adjacent one another such that the substantially identical ends interconnect; and a pivot pin connecting the substantially identical ends of the crimping members.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the pivot pin comprises a spacer positioned on the pivot pin and fitting between the substantially identical ends.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein the crimping members each comprise a plurality of laminations.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein each of the substantially identical ends defines a forked slot.
