Claims
- 1. A heat chamber having means for seating a pipe therein in a predetermined position, said first means including a horizontal top member including a cavity corresponding to a curvilinear shape of a pipe at one end of said chamber adjacent said position to define a seat and a horizontal bottom member including a cavity corresponding to said shape at an opposite end of said chamber adjacent said position to define a seat, second means on one side of said chamber for directing at least one flow of heated air transversely onto and around a pipe in said position, an opening on an opposite side of said chamber from said one side for exhausting the heated flow of air passing away from said position, and a plurality of vertical side members secured to said top and bottom members, two of said side members projecting beyond the plane of said top and bottom members to define a whirl chamber adjacent said opening with a pipe in said position.
- 2. A heat chamber as set forth in claim 1 further having means in said one side for directing at least one flow of water transversely into said position.
- 3. A heat chamber as set forth in claim 2 wherein each said means includes a plurality of nozzles.
- 4. A heat chamber for bending a pipe comprising
- a top member having one end shaped to define a seat to receive a pipe;
- a bottom member having one end shaped to define a seat to receive the pipe;
- a plurality of vertical side members secured to said top and bottom members to define an enclosed chamber with a pipe positioned in said seats, a pair of said side members projecting beyond the plane of said top and bottom members to define a whirl chamber with the pipe opposite said enclosed chamber;
- means in said enclosed chamber for directing a flow of heated air against and around the pipe into said whirl chamber; and
- an opening in communication with said whirl chamber for exhausting the heated flow of air passing away from the pipe.
- 5. A heat transfer means having a jacket of substantially U-shaped cross-section to surround a pipe and form a first chamber and internal heat-transfer medium-conveying surfaces along said first chamber, said surfaces projecting freely beyond the pipe to form a whirl chamber, and nozzle means fixed at the base of said jacket for supplying heat-transfer medium into said first chamber directed at the pipe to be guided through narrow gaps formed between said surfaces and said pipe to said whirl chamber.
- 6. A heat chamber having first means at two opposite ends for seating a pipe therein in a predetermined position, second means on one side of said chamber for directing at least one flow of heated air transversely onto and around a pipe in said position, an opening on an opposite side of siad chamber from said one side for exhausting the heated flow of air passing away from said position, and a first pair of vertical side members extending obliquely from said one side toward said opposite side of said chamber to define a first chamber and a second pair of vertical side members extending from said first pair of vertical side members and said first means to define a whirl chamber adjacent said opening with a pipe in said position for the flow of heated air and to deliver narrow gaps with the pipe.
