Claims
- 1. A method of calibrating measuring machines, comprising the steps of:positioning a reference measuring machine previously calibrated and an object measuring machine to be calibrated in such a manner that a measurement space by said reference measuring machine is superimposed on a measurement space by said object measuring machine; acquiring first measurement values by said object measuring machine and second measurement values by said reference measuring machine each on plural points in said measurement spaces respectively by said reference measuring machine and said object measuring machine; and calibrating said object measuring machine based on said first and second measurement values, wherein said object measuring machine includes: a first base plate for mounting a work thereon; a first guide mechanism consisting of a first guide and a first slider located on the basis of said first base plate; a first scale for providing a first coordinate signal on detection of a movement of said first slider relative to said first guide; and a first sensor located on said first slider for providing a first detection signal, said object measuring machine processing at least one of said first detection signal and said first coordinate signal to measure a surface texture on said work, said reference measuring machine including: a second base plate for mounting said object measuring machine thereon; a second guide mechanism consisting of a second guide and a second slider located on the basis of said second base plate; a second scale for providing a second coordinate signal on detection of a movement of said second slider relative to said second guide; and a second sensor located on said second slider for providing a second detection signal, one of said first and second sliders having a reference device located thereon, said first and second measurement values are acquired as said first and second coordinate signals on detection of said reference device by said sensor located on the other of said first and second sliders.
- 2. An apparatus for calibrating measuring machines to calibrate an object measuring machine to be calibrated, comprising:a reference measuring machine previously calibrated and positioned in such a manner that a measurement space by said reference measuring machine is superimposed on a measurement space by said object measuring machine; and computing means, using first measurement values obtained by said object measuring machine and second measurement values obtained by said reference measuring machine each on plural points in said measurement spaces respectively by said reference measuring machine and said object measuring machine, for calibrating said object measuring machine based on said first and second measurement values, wherein said object measuring machine includes: a first base plate for mounting a work thereon; a first guide mechanism consisting of a first guide and a first slider located on the basis of said first base plate; a first scale for providing a first coordinate signal on detection of a movement of said first slider relative to said first guide; and a first sensor located on said first slider for providing a first detection signal, said object measuring machine processing at least one of said first detection signal and said first coordinate signal to measure a surface texture on said work, said reference measuring machine including: a second base plate for mounting said object measuring machine thereon; a second guide mechanism consisting of a second guide and a second slider located on the basis of said second base plate; a second scale for providing a second coordinate signal on detection of a movement of said second slider relative to said second guide; and a second sensor located on said second slider for providing a second detection signal, one of said first and second sliders having a reference device located thereon, said computing means, on detection of said reference device by said sensor located on the other of said first and second sliders, taking said first and second coordinate signals as said first and second measurement values to calibrate said first coordinate signal based on said first and second coordinate signals.
- 3. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 2, wherein said reference device includes a support member and a sphere supported on said support member.
- 4. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 3, wherein said reference device includes three spheres supported on said support member and not arrayed in line.
- 5. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 3, wherein said sensor located on one of said first and second sliders, on which said reference device is not located, includes a spherical probe.
- 6. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 5, wherein said sphere has a diameter almost similar to that of said probe.
- 7. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 3, wherein said sphere has six measurement points uniformly distributed on the spherical surface.
- 8. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 2, wherein at least one of said first and second scales is equipped with a temperature sensor to provide an output for correcting at least one of said first and second coordinate signals.
- 9. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 2, further comprising a displacement gauge located on said second base plate for detecting a displacement of said first base plate relative to said second base plate.
- 10. An apparatus for calibrating measuring machines to calibrate an object measuring machine to be calibrated, comprising:a reference measuring machine previously calibrated and positioned in such a manner that a measurement space by said reference measuring machine is superimposed on a measurement space by said object measuring machine; and computing means, using first measurement values obtained by said object measuring machine and second measurement values obtained by said reference measuring machine each on plural points in said measurement spaces respectively by said reference measuring machine and said object measuring machine, for calibrating said object measuring machine based on said first and second measurement values. wherein said object measuring machine includes: a first base plate for mounting a work thereon; a first guide mechanism consisting of a first guide and a first slider located on the basis of said first base plate; a first scale for providing a first coordinate signal on detection of a relative movement of said first slider to said first guide; and a first sensor located on said first slider for providing a first detection signal, said object measuring machine processing at least one of said first detection signal and said first coordinate signal to measure a surface texture on said work, said reference measuring machine including: a second base plate for mounting said object measuring machine thereon; a second guide mechanism consisting of a second guide and a second slider located on the basis of said second base plate; and a second scale for providing a second coordinate signal on detection of a movement of said second slider relative to said second guide, said apparatus further comprising a coupler for coupling said first slider with said second slider, said computing means calibrating said first coordinate signal based on said second coordinate signal.
- 11. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 10, said coupler including:a reference coupling member secured on said second slider; an object coupling member secured on said first slider; and a wire for coupling said object coupling member with said reference coupling member to tow one member relative to the other member in the guide direction of said first or second guide mechanism.
- 12. The apparatus for calibrating measuring machines according to claim 11, wherein said wire couples said one of said reference coupling member and said object coupling member to the other in such a manner that said the other relative to said one can not move in the guide direction of said first or second guide mechanism but can move in the rotational direction.
- 13. A method of calibrating measuring machines, comprising the steps of:positioning a reference measuring machine previously calibrated and an object measuring machine to be calibrated in such a manner that a measurement space by said reference measuring machine is superimposed on a measurement space by said object measuring machine; acquiring first measurement values by said object measuring machine and second measurement values by said reference measuring machine each on plural points in said measurement spaces respectively by said reference measuring machine and said object measuring machine; and calibrating said object measuring machine based on said first and second measurement values, wherein said object measuring machine includes: a first base plate for mounting a work thereon; a first guide mechanism consisting of a first guide and a first slider located on the basis of said first base plate; a first scale for providing a first coordinate signal on detection of a relative movement of said first slider to said first guide; and a first sensor located on said first slider for providing a first detection signal, said object measuring machine processing at least one of said first detection signal and said first coordinate signal to measure a surface texture on said work, said reference measuring machine including: a second base plate for mounting said object measuring machine thereon; a second guide mechanism consisting of a second guide and a second slider located on the basis of said second base plate; and a second scale for providing a second coordinate signal on detection of a movement of said second slider relative to said second guide; said reference measuring machine and said object measuring machine further comprising a coupler for coupling said first slider with said second slider, said first coordinate signal being calibrated based on said second coordinate signal.
