- using said one or more additional read to write time delays to correct positioning of one or more trigger patterns as a servo pattern is written on the storage medium.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said first radial position is at the inner most accessible track of the storage medium and said second radial position is at the outer most accessible track of the storage medium.
- 7. A method for determining an unknown radial position of a transducer with respect to a storage medium, in which said transducer has a separate read element and a separate write element, said method comprising:

- ascertaining a value for the separation between the read element and the write element;
- determining a first read to write time delay with the transducer positioned at a first radial position of said storage medium;
- measuring a second read to write time delay with the transducer positioned at an unknown radial position of said storage medium; and
- computing the unknown radial position using said first read to write time delay, said second read to write time delay, said ascertained relationship and said ascertained value for the separation.
- 8. A method for determining separation between a read element and a write element of a transducer, said method comprising:
- computing one or more read to write time delays at one or more radial positions of a storage medium, wherein said computing is based on a separation between the read element and the write element, one or more skew angles and the velocity of the storage medium.

- means for computing a separation between the read element and the write element based on a difference between said first read to write time delay and said second read to write time delay, and based on a velocity of the storage medium.
- 10. An apparatus for determining an unknown radial position of a transducer with respect to a storage medium, in which said transducer has a separate read element and a separate write element, said apparatus comprising:
- means for ascertaining a relationship between a radial position of the storage medium and a skew angle between the transducer and a direction of motion of the storage medium relative to the transducer;
- means for ascertaining a value for the separation between the read element and the write element;
- means for determining a first read to write time delay with the transducer positioned at a first radial position of said storage medium;
- means for measuring a second read to write time delay with the transducer positioned at an unknown radial position of said storage medium; and
