Claims
- 1. A combinatorial weighing method comprising the steps of
- (a) charging a plurality of article batch handling means with article batches,
- (b) deriving batch weight signals by individually weighing said article batches contained in said article batch handling means,
- (c) selecting a combination of said article batch handling means on the basis of said batch weight signals,
- (d) identifying article batch handling means selected in said combination,
- (e) discharging weighed article batches from said selected article batch handling means,
- (f) recharging said discharged article batch handling means, and
- (g) repeating (b), (c), (d), (e) and (f) regarding the unselected article batch handling means, omitting each of said selected article batch handling means from step (c) for a predetermined number of cycles before allowing it to participate again.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said number of cycles is predetermined and is greater than one.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said step (e) of discharging said weighed article batches is performed on each batch in succession.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said step (e) of discharging further includes the steps of disposing an article collecting conveyor system having a plurality of spaced article collecting buckets thereon beneath said article batch handling means, producing discharge timing signals representative of the times at which one of said buckets on said conveyor is situated directly below a respective article batch handling means, and successively discharging said selected article batch handling means in timed sequence in response to said discharge timing signals to collect said article batches in said combination in said one bucket.
- 5. A combinatorial weighing apparatus comprising
- a plurality of article batch handling means,
- means for supplying article batches to said article batch handling means,
- means for producing batch weight signals representing individual weight values of said article batches in said article batch handling means,
- an electronic control means for selecting a combination of said article batch handling means from said weight values, identifying article batch handling means selected in said combination, discharging weighed article batches from said selected article batch handling means, and preventing said selected article batch handling means from becoming reselected for a predetermined number of cycles, and
- article feeding means for recharging said discharged article batch handling means with new article batches.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein said control means is adapted to discharge said weighed article batches in succession.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 5 further comprising
- a plurality of conveyor buckets arranged to pass directly below said article batch handling means,
- said control means being adapted to produce discharge timing signals representative of the times at which one of said buckets is situated directly below a respective article batch handling means and to successively discharge said selected article batch handling means in timed sequence in response to said discharge timing signals to collect said article batches in said combination in said one bucket.
