Claims
- 1. A method for the foil-capping of bottles with a patch of metal foil having an area projecting downwardly beyond the neck of the bottle and an adhesive back, comprising
- (a) adhering each patch to the neck of a bottle by its central area with the upper area of the foil projecting above the bottle neck,
- (b) applying the laterally projecting patch ends so that they overlap one another, the upwardly projecting area of the patch thereby constituting a collar-like upstanding patch portion,
- (c) folding down the collar-like upstanding patch portion over the top of the bottle neck in two steps and from opposite sides,
- (d) simultaneously pressing down and smoothing the folded down patch area onto the top side and all about the circumferential margin adjacent thereto.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein in the first step of folding down the upstanding patch portion no more than one half (relative to the circumference of the bottle neck) of the collar-like upstanding patch portion is folded down.
