Claims
- 1. Apparatus for making erectable display boxes of the type comprising a sheet of opaque material having groove lines and an opening therein and a sheet of substantially rigid transparent plastic material covering the said opening from a roll of substantially rigid transparent plastic material and a supply of sheets of opaque material having groove lines therein, said apparatus comprising means for receiving a roll of substantially rigid transparent plastic material, a roller assembly for receiving said plastic material from said roll, groove-forming means for forming groove lines in said plastic material, cutting means for cutting said plastic material into sheets having groove lines therein, opaque sheet feeding means for feeding sheets of opaque material having groove lines therein, positioning means for positioning a sheet of said plastic material in a desired juxtaposed relationship with a sheet of said opaque material such that the plastic material substantially covers the opening in the opaque material and the groove lines in the sheet of plastic material are aligned with groove lines in the sheet of opaque material, and means for adhering the juxtaposed sheets together.
- 2. Apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising notch-forming means for forming notches in said grooves.
- 3. A method of making erectable display boxes of the type comprising a sheet of opaque material having groove lines and an opening therein and a sheet of substantially rigid transparent plastic material substantially covering the said opening from a roll of substantially rigid transparent plastic material and a supply of sheets of opaque material having groove lines therein, said method comprising the steps of feeding a length of substantially rigid transparent plastic material from a roll of such plastic material to means for forming groove lines in said plastic material, forming groove lines in the length of plastic material, cutting the grooved plastic material into sheets, positioning each plastic sheet in a juxtaposed relationship with an opaque sheet such that the plastic sheet is disposed over an opening in the opaque sheet so that the plastic material substantially covers the opening in the opaque material and the groove lines in the sheet of plastic material are aligned with groove lines in the sheet of opaque material, and adhering the juxtaposed sheets together.
- 4. A method according to claim 3, further comprising the step of forming notches in the grooves in the plastic material prior to cutting of the plastic material into sheets.
- 5. A method of making erectable window cartons from a roll of substantially rigid plastic material and a supply of sheets of opaque material each having at least one groove line formed therein, said method comprising the steps of, feeding a length of substantially rigid plastic material from a roll of such material, forming at least one groove line in the length of plastic material, cutting the grooved plastic material into sheets of such plastic material each having at least one groove line therein, supplying a sheet of opaque material having at least one groove line and an opening therein, positioning the cut sheets of plastic material in juxtaposition with the sheets of opaque material such that the at least one groove line of the plastic material is registered with the at least one groove of the opaque material and the plastic material substantially covers the opening in the opaque material, and adhering the plastic material to the opaque material as positioned therewith.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein the at least one groove line is formed in the direction of movement of the plastic material as it is delivered from the roll.
- 7. A method according to claim 5, further comprising the step of forming notches in the grooves in the plastic material prior to cutting of the plastic material into sheets.
- 8. A machine for making erectable window cartons from a roll of substantially rigid transparent plastic material and a supply of sheets of opaque material each having at least one groove line and an opening therein, said machine comprising, feeding means for feeding a length of substantially rigid transparent plastic material from a roll of such material, receiving means for receiving the length of plastic material from the roll, groove-forming means for forming at least one groove line in the length of plastic material, cutting means for cutting the grooved plastic material into sheets of such plastic material each having at least one groove line therein, supplying means for supplying sheets of substantially rigid opaque material having at least one groove line and an opening therein, positioning means for positioning a sheet of such plastic material in juxtaposition with the sheet of opaque material such that the at least one groove line of the plastic material is registered with the at least one groove of the opaque material and the plastic material substantially covers the opening in the opaque material, and adhering means for adhering the plastic material to the opaque material as positioned therewith.
- 9. The machine in claim 8, wherein the groove-forming means is so constructed and arranged to form the at least one groove line in the direction of movement of the plastic material as it is delivered from the roll.
- 10. A machine according to claim 8, further comprising notch-forming means for forming notches in said grooves.
