- (d) continuously metering said diluent and concentrate while dispensing to obtain a desired ratio.
- 8. The method according to claim 7, and further including dispensing said concentrate at a low pressure and said diluent at a pressure sufficient to obtain mixing without foaming, whereby any quantity of the drink in proper proportions can be dispensed.
- 9. The method according to claim 8, wherein said low pressure is atmospheric pressure.
- 10. Apparatus for dispensing a drink made up of a concentrate and a diluent comprising:
- (a) means for storing diluent in bulk;
- (b) a replaceable concentrate package for storing cocnentrate in bulk, said package including an outlet valve having means for metering flow through said outlet valve;
- (c) means for pressurizing said bulk supply of diluent;
- (d) means for maintaining an essentially constant low pressure on said bulk concentrate supply;
- (e) a diluent outlet valve and outlet spout for directing a metered stream of diluent from said means for storing diluent into free space;
- (f) said concentrate outlet valve separated by an air gap from said diluent outlet spout and arranged to dispense a stream of concentrate directly from said package into free space; and
- (g) means for simultaneously operating said diluent and concentrate outlet valves.
- 11. Apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said constant low pressure is atmospheric pressure coupled to provide a constant head in said package.
- 12. Apparatus for dispensing a drink made up of a concentrate and a diluent comprising:
- (a) means for storing diluent in bulk;
- (b) a package for storing concentrate comprising:
- (i) a body for containing a quantity of liquid to be dispensed and having a bottom, side wall means and a top;
- (ii) a cap having an interior of closing the top of the body;
- (c) a concentrate outlet valve comprising:
- (i) a seal region defined by a first seal element in the top of the body; and a second seal element on the cap which sealingly engages the said first seal element to prevent the liquid from passing the seal region;
- (ii) means mounting the cap on the body for movement relative to the body to enable the first and second seal element to be separated to permit the liquid to flow past the seal region, when the package is in inverted condition, into the interior of the cap;
- (iii) first aperture means in the cap enabling the liquid to flow from the cap interior to form a stream of concentrate, second aperture means in the cap to enable the connection of the interior of the body of the package to a supply of low pressure pressurizing gas for driving the liquid from the first aperture means when the first and second elements are separated;
- (d) means for pressurizing said diluent;
- (e) a dispensing valve comprising a diluent inlet coupled to said means for storing, a diluent outlet spout for directing a metered stream of diluent from said means for storing diluent into free space, a valve for coupling said diluent inlet to said diluent outlet, a holder for holding said package in inverted condition, said holder having a movable component for displacing said cap relative to said body to cause concentrate flow, and at the same time opening said valve to cause the dispensing of diluent from said diluent outlet whereby the diluent and concentrate will issue into free space and mix and can be caught in a drinking vessel.

- (b) means for receiving said removable package of concentrate said means having selectively and relatively movable parts engaging said package such that when said parts are moved in one direction said parts operate on said package to allow concentrate to flow from said outlet into free space without contacting said means for receiving so that the concentrate can be caught directly in a cup located under the package outlet, and that said parts can be moved under the control of an operator in the opposite direction to terminate such concentrate flow;
- (c) a supply of diluent,
- (d) a diluent outlet spaced from said concentrate outlet but directed such that flow from said outlet can be caught in the same cup as flow from said concentrate outlet to provide a beverage comprising a mixture of the diluent and concentrate; and
- (e) means for causing a flow of diluent from said diluent supply to said diluent outlet when said parts of said means receiving said concentrate package are moved to permit flow from said package outlet.
