Claims
- 1-10: (Cancelled)
- 11. An apparatus that is used in a medical procedure on a cornea where energy flows into the cornea from a probe in contact with the cornea, comprising:
a guide that has an opening that aligns the probe with the cornea.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said guide has a plurality of openings located in a circular pattern.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising a spring that couples the probe to said guide.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein said guide has a center opening.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein said circular pattern has a diameter of approximately 7 millimeters.
- 16. An apparatus that is used in a medical procedure on a cornea where energy flows into the cornea from a probe in contact with the cornea, comprising:
alignment means for aligning the probe with the cornea.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein said alignment means includes a plurality of openings located in a circular pattern.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 16, further comprising a spring that couples the probe to said alignment means.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 16, wherein said alignment means has a center opening.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein said circular pattern has a diameter of approximately 7 millimeters.
- 21. A method for performing a medical procedure on a cornea, comprising:
placing a guide onto a cornea; moving a probe within an opening of the guide into contact with the cornea; and, delivering a current to the cornea through the probe to denature corneal tissue.
- 22. The method of claim 21, wherein the guide is aligned with the cornea through a centering aperture.
- 23. The method of claim 21, wherein a portion of the guide is inserted into the cornea.
- 24. The method of claim 21, wherein a spring pulls the probe out of contact with the cornea.
- 25. An apparatus that is used to perform a medical procedure on a cornea, comprising:
a probe; and, a spring coupled to said probe.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 25, further comprising a guide with an opening that guides said probe.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 26, wherein said guide has a plurality of openings arranged in a circular pattern.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein said circular pattern has a diameter of 7 millimeters.
- 29. An apparatus that is used to perform a medical procedure on a cornea, comprising:
a probe; and, spring means for exerting a spring force onto said probe.
- 30. The apparatus of claim 29, further comprising guide means for guiding said probe into the cornea.
- 31. The apparatus of claim 30, wherein said guide means includes a guide with a plurality of openings arranged in a circular pattern.
- 32. The apparatus of claim 31, wherein said circular pattern has a diameter of 7 millimeters.
- 33. A method for performing a medical procedure on a cornea, comprising:
placing a guide onto a cornea; moving a probe within an opening of the guide into contact with the cornea; delivering an energy to the cornea through the probe to denature corneal tissue; and, moving the probe out of contact with the cornea with a spring.
- 34. The method of claim 33, wherein a portion of the probe is inserted into the cornea.
