This invention relates to improved methods and apparatus concerning sports or athletic gloves.
There are various devices known sports or athletic gloves.
In at least one embodiment, an apparatus is provided comprising a first glove having a palm-side and a back hand side. The first glove may include a pinky finger section which is configured to receive a person's pinky finger of the person's first hand, a ring finger section which is configured to receive the person's ring finger of the person's first hand, a middle finger section which is configured to receive the person's middle finger of the person's first hand, an index finger section which is configured to receive the person's index finger of the person's first hand, and a thumb finger section which is configured to receive the person's thumb finger of the person's first hand.
In at least one embodiment, at least one of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove. The first glove may have a palm section to which the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section are connected, on which is at least a first further padded outer portion is located on the palm-side of the first glove.
In at least one embodiment, each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has a padded outer portion on the palm-side of the first glove. The palm section of the first glove may have second and third further padded outer portions located on the palm-side of the first glove; wherein the second further padded outer portion of the first glove is located between the first and third further padded outer portions of the first glove.
In at least one embodiment, each of the pinky finger section, the ring finger section, the middle finger section, the index finger section, and the thumb finger section of the first glove has at least two padded outer portions on the palm-side of the first glove.
In at least one embodiment, the index finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the index finger section, wherein the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the index finger section of the first glove; wherein the material which the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a field on a touch screen of a cell phone; and wherein a majority of the index finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the index finger section of the first glove.
In at least one embodiment, the thumb finger section of the first glove has a tip section at a tip of the thumb finger section of the first glove, wherein the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of a different material from the rest of the thumb finger section of the first glove; wherein the material which the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove is made of, is configured to select a field on a touch screen of a cell phone; and wherein a majority of the thumb finger section of the first glove does not include the tip section of the thumb finger section of the first glove.
The palm-side of the first glove may be made of leather, and the back hand side of the first glove may be made of a cloth which is not leather.
The apparatus may further include a second glove having a palm-side and a back hand side; wherein the first glove is a right hand glove and the second glove is a left hand glove. The left hand glove may be a mirror image of the right hand glove.
In at least one embodiment, a method is provided, which may include using the first glove to catch a ball on the palm-side of the first glove; wherein the first glove may be as previously described.
The method may further include using a second glove having a palm-side and a back hand side to catch a ball on the palm side of the second glove; wherein the first glove is a right hand glove and the second glove is a left hand glove; as previously described.
The method may include catching a ball or hockey puck with both the first glove and the second glove simultaneously.
The right hand sports glove 1 includes pinky finger section 2, ring finger section 4, middle finger section 6, index finger section 8, and thumb section 10. The sections 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 include protrusions 2a-2b, 4a-4b, 6a-6b, 8b-8c, and 10b-10c, respectively, on the palm-side of the right hand sports glove 1. The protrusions 2a-b, 4a-b, 8b-c, and 10b-c may be padded sections of durable material which are designed for gripping and catching, such as synthetic material stiff foam padding under palm material glazed with sticky cotton material and stitching from top. In at least one embodiment, the primary purpose of the padded sections or protrusions 2a-b, 4a-b, 8b-c, and 10b-c, is to reduce the effects of catching an item, such as a baseball or hockey puck in the palm facing area and finger facing area, i.e. the padded sections 2a-b, 4a-b, 8b-c, and 10b-c add a palm padded comfort cushion.
The index finger section 8 and the thumb section 10 also include sections 8a and 10a, respectively, in at least one embodiment, and sections 8a and 10a may have a synthetic touch screen material on pointer finger and thumb for using on cellphone screen to text.
The right hand sports glove 1 also includes protrusions 12, 14, and 16, in a palm area of the palm-side of the glove 1, which may be padded sections of durable material design for gripping and catching, such as synthetic material stiff foam padding under finger material glazed with sticky cotton material and stitching from top. In at least one embodiment, the primary purpose of the padded sections of protrusions 12, 14, and 16 is to reduce the effects of catching an item, such as a baseball, hockey puck, in the palm/finger facing area, i.e. sections 12, 14, and 16 provide a palm padded comfort cushion

The gloves 1 and 100 reduce injury from catching items. Gloves 1 and 100 are particularly useful for catching foul balls at baseball games or hockey pucks at hockey games. A person trying to catch a foul ball or hockey puck with their bare hands may break bones in their hand. In addition, little leaguers may use the gloves 1 and 100 to prevent sting from aluminum baseball bats, when hitting a ball, particularly in cold weather. Also parents or guardians may use the gloves 1 and 100 to have catches with their kids in the back yard, in the case whether they don't have a baseball glove, or want something less cumbersome. The gloves 1 and 100 are also useful on the interior of typical baseball gloves to add extra padding.
