Claims
- 1. A method of printing images on two sides of a substrate comprising:
- (a) forming a first image on a first surface;
- (b transferring the first image to a second surface from the first surface;
- (c) forming a second image on the first surface;
- (d) transferring the second image to a third surface from the first surface; and
- (e) simultaneously transferring the first and second images from the second and third surfaces to the two sides of a substrate,
- wherein at least one of the first and second images comprises a multicolor image formed of a plurality of monochrome images and wherein the plurality of monochrome images are formed separately on the first surface and transferred sequentially to the third surface.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein transferring the first image to the third surface comprises:
- transferring the first image from the first surface to the third surface; and
- transferring the first image from the third surface to the second surface.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, wherein the temperature of the second surface is higher than that of the third surface.
- 4. A method according to claim 2, wherein the second and third surfaces are electrified to different voltages which enhances transfer of the first image therebetween.
- 5. A method according to any of claims 1, 2, or 4, wherein the first and second images are transferred to the substrate by heat and pressure.
- 6. A method according to claim 5, wherein the first and second images are toner images.
- 7. A method according to claim 6, wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
- 8. A method according to any of claims 1, 2, or 4, wherein the first and second images are toner images.
- 9. A method according to claim 8, wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
- 10. A method according to claim 9, wherein the first and second images are electrostatically formed on the first surface.
- 11. A method according to claim 10, wherein the first and second images are electrostatically transferred from the first surface.
- 12. A method according to claim 1, wherein the first image is a multicolor image formed of a plurality of monochrome images which are subsequently transferred to the second surface from the third surface.
- 13. A method according to claim 12, wherein the plurality of monochrome images which make up the first image are transferred together from the third surface to the second surface.
- 14. A method according to claim 12, wherein the plurality of monochrome images which make up the first image are transferred sequentially from the third surface to the second surface.
- 15. A method according to claim 12, wherein the temperature of the second surface is higher than that of the third surface.
- 16. A method according to claim 12, wherein the second and third surfaces are electrified to different voltages which enhances transfer of the first image therebetween.
- 17. A method of printing images on two sides of a substrate comprising:
- (a) forming a first image on a first surface;
- (b) transferring the first image to a second surface from the first surface;
- (c) forming a second image on the first surface;
- (d) transferring the second image to a third surface from the first surface; and
- (e) simultaneously transferring the first and second images from the second and third surfaces to the two sides of a substrate, wherein the temperature of the second surface is higher than that of the third surface.
- 18. A method according to claim 17 wherein at least one of the first and second images comprises a multicolor image formed of a plurality of monochrome images.
- 19. A method according to claim 17 or claim 18 wherein the plurality of monochrome images which make up the first image are transferred together from the first surface to the third surface and from the third surface to the second surface, prior to their transfer to the substrate.
- 20. A method according to claim 19 wherein the second and third surfaces are electrified to different voltages which enhances transfer of the first image therebetween.
- 21. A method according to claim 20 wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
- 22. A method according to claim 19 wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
- 23. A method according to claim 17 or claim 18 wherein the plurality of monochrome images which make up the first image are transferred sequentially from the first surface to the third surface and from the third surface to the second surface prior to their transfer to the substrate.
- 24. A method according to claim 23 wherein the second and third surfaces are electrified to different voltages which enhances transfer of the first image therebetween.
- 25. A method according to claim 24 wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
- 26. A method according to claim 23 wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
- 27. A method according to claim 17 or claim 18 wherein the toner images are liquid toner images.
