- wherein said processor debug breakpoint forces said processor to transfer control to said input/output redirection routine responsive to trapping execution of the input/output instruction directed to the standard input/output port.
- 13. The computer system of claim 12, wherein said processor is a Pentium.RTM. Pro compatible processor.
- 14. The computer system of claim 12, wherein said processor is a Pentium.RTM. compatible processor.
- 15. The computer system of claim 14, wherein said processor debug breakpoint is contained in two of DR0, DR1, DR2, or DR3 and a breakpoint range for the two are set in DR7 as 4 bytes.
- 16. The computer system of claim 14, wherein said processor debug breakpoint is contained in at least one of DR0, DR1, DR2, or DR3 which is unused by other debug software.
- 17. The computer system of claim 12, wherein said processor debug breakpoint traps input/output instructions directed to a COM port.
- 18. The computer system of claim 12 further comprising:
- a modem controller routine for execution by said processor; and
- a modem data pump interface coupled to the modem controller routine,
- wherein the input/output redirection routine performs input/output through the modem controller routine.
