Claims
- 1. A device for regenerating and maintaining the activity of a photographic processing solution, said device comprising a processing tank for receiving exposed photographic material; three containers for storing two regenerating concentrates and the water of dilution, respectively; three time-controlled proportioning pumps for the concentrates and the water; lines operatively connecting the respective pumps to the concentrate and water containers and, in turn, to the processing tank; and an electric control system for the proportioning pumps wherein the control system comprises first input means for inputting the area of the photographic material, the exposed portion thereof and a characteristic variable dependent on the nature of the photographic material, and second input means for inputting the expected device throughput of photographic material; the control system determining the required amount of regenerator on each occasion from the parameters supplied by the first input means and the required concentration of regenerator on each occasion from the parameters supplied by the second input means, and actuating the proportioning pumps accordingly.
- 2. A device according to claim 1, including a common drive responsive to said control system and driving the three proportioning pumps; a three-way valve in at least one of the three lines from the pumps to the processing tank so that the fluid conveyed by a pump is conveyed to the processing tank when the valve is in a first position and returned to the container when the valve is in a second position: and wherein the control system regulates the concentration of the regenerator while bringing the three-way valve into its first position during a part determined by the second input means of the time during which the proportioning pumps are in operation, as determined by the first and second input means.
- 3. A device according to claim 2, wherein the three-way valve is disposed downstream of the proportioning pump for supplying water for dilution.
- 4. A device according to claim 3, characterised in that the control system determines the duration t.sub.1 of operation of the proportioning pumps and the portion t.sub.2 of that duration during which the three-way valve is in its first position, in accordance with the relation: ##EQU5## where t.sub.0 is the duration of pump operation required, when the proportioning pumps have a given delivery capacity in order to convey the amount of regenerator determined by the first input means when Z=1; x is the ratio of the total amount of concentrate to the amount of water of dilution for Z=1, determined by suitably dimensioning the feed pumps, and Z is a factor .ltoreq.1, determined by the second input means.
